Just thought I would let people know that I polished all the windows up on the Faultiwagon this morning with glass paste then applied Rain X wipes on all the outside windows/mirrors and sky roof.

After been out over the NY Moors for a trip to Whitby in the rain and following other cars I only used the wipers twice.... the way water beads up and floats off all the glass is brilliant, its like been in the Mellenium Falcon going into Hyper space.

I can't believe I hav'nt tried this stuff before it really is fantastic, cost £6.99 for a tub of 30 or so wipes in a tub from my local motor factors.

What're the wipes like compared to the bottled stuff as I've always used the bottled stuff; the wipes seemed a bit dubious to me...

Also, I can recommend the RainX screenwash - does a similar job ;o)

Well the glass is now collecting the rain as normal after 2 days.. so I guess the long term life of the wipes don't seem that good.

I am going to reapply and use the tub up as I am impressed with how the wipes work when fresh, think I will invest in the washer fluid type next.

I too can vouch for its efficiency. I applied some to a Matra Murena before a weeks holiday on the continent. It only rained on the run back up from Dover to London. A really filthy wet night. Wiper arm came loose and tangled up with the other so no choice but to switch them off and stop (or so I thought). Not so. With the wipers off I could see really clearly, actually better than when they were on! Especially impressive was overhauling HGVs, the huge spray from their wheels was no problem at all, it was almost magical. It must be said the Murena screen is very steeply raked, and travelling at speed helps to blow the droplets up and away, but I was mightily impressed.

Personally I suggest Rain-X for the side windows and mirrors, but using it in conjunction with wipers is flawed... it basically leaves you a thin film of water with hundreds of tiny streaks.

Rain-X in a bottle, applied carefully, lasts for a couple of months.

I suspect that the rain-sensor of the Stilo will be confused by the film/streaks I mentioned.

Also, you'll find that polishing the glass with a rubbing compound will give a similar result to using Rain-X but will last longer :)

i use rain away, i think it is the same thing and i love it the faster you go the easier it is to see :)

Outer Mongolian Yaks wee has the same effect and its dirt cheap if you are married to one (about 4 Babychams) ;)
