Hi everyone,

Today I had the weirdest problem with my Stilo sofar. I was driving home from work and suddenly noticed it was getting quite hot in the car. (I checked for hot babes, there where none ;) ). The ClimaControl system was going insane even when I turned down the heat to "LOW" and the fans to off it was blowing burning hot air.

The fix was turning of the ignition and turning it on again. No need to stop BTW when you do this on a straight stretch of road. It then started to cool normally.

Anyone seen or heard this before?

Cheers Haas

Cool another fault to add to the long list of possible faults! [V]

2003 3 Door Stilo 1.2 Active, Sassy Grey, 5 disc CD Changer, Abarth boot badge, plastic wheel trims - and 42.4mpg average so far. Love it, not at the moment, seeing as the car is having a strop!!

try and stay calm Stiloboy.
Over two years and two Stilo's I've experienced loads of problems, and i've got really annoyed with it. My car is my livelyhood, so if it's off the road I'm loosing money. But I still like it, I still turn and have a little look as I walk away when I park it up, and I still look forward to taking it out for a proper drive when I'm not working. Some of the many problems with my cars could be due to the amount of wear and tear it gets (28,500 miles in 11 months). I am lucky to have a local dealer who is willing to try various different things to cure a problem, not always first time round but we usually get a result with the help of this forum. So don't give up on your dealer until you've seen what they can do. And don't give up on your Stilo, cuz I bet when you get it back and it's all fixed you'll fall in love with it all over again. :)

Ps. I wanted a sassy grey Stilo but there wasn't any in the country at the time.

Same problem here, now i´m waiting for the full control unit of the air con, since they(fiat portugal) managed to change:
1 sensor (problem not solved)
2 engines of the aircon (problem not solved)

Now i´m waiting for the aircon control unit to come to change it(I´m happy since it´s still under warranty)

But the symptoms you described are just the beginning, mine started just like that, now it´s blowing cold to one side and hot to another and vice-versa, it blows hot when i choose cold and vice-versa, i must say it has a mind of its own(crazy gizmo)

You should take it to your dealer when the symptom appears, and remember to not turn of the engine until they check it first, or probably they won't do nothing.

I will describe you here another incidence, but I find it minor so I haven't bothered to go to the dealer. I want them to fiddle with my car as less as possible. When I switch on the climate control sometimes it automatically goes to the last mode of function, while some others it just creates its own configuration (at least the same every time, which is blowing air only towards the windscreen and the fan on minimum). There is no pattern of appearance, it's totally random [:0]. Is there out there anyone else experiencing the same?

gfotopou, normally if you leave the air con / climate control alone for a few mins it will revert back to your last used config
you do have to be patient with it whilst all the liquids heat up / cool down

my abarth selespeed has always done this

Thanks! I think that you are right. The weather is warmer recently and I don't switch on the heating right after starting the car, so I noticed that whenever I switch on the climate control it applies my latest configuration.
