Hello all. I have a 1.9 JTD 115stlio multiwagon (04), and have had it remapped to 140bhp ish by Angel tuning. It has now done 18000 miles and the clutch cannot handle the max torque at 2000-2500 rpm, as it slips. I have read a few posts about clutches but, does any know or have an uprated clutch for the stilo? Your help and advice would be much appreciated thanks.

Why not just take the clutch from a 140 bph Stilo 1,9 16v JTD?

But the 3 door is a lighter car than the estate, when i first had it remapped it was fine, then i noticed a slight judder ,now it just slips when pedal to the metal. Surely there must be an answer. (Apart from reverting back to standard).

I don't think there are any uprated clutches for the Stilo, well I haven't seen any anyway.

The only thing you could look into is getting one from a 150 mJTD but as ABZSTILO said these have a 6 speed box so they more than likely wont fit.

You'd have to compare it to other Fiat group clutches to see which matched, but there will be an uprated clutch available. The 1.8 16v,, 2.0 16v, 2.0 20v and 2.4 20v as well as 1.9 and 2.4 diesels are all interrelated in terms of being part of Fiat's modular engine design. That covers both Alfa, Lancia and Fiat cars. This means there isa very high likelihood of clutch interchangeability, and fortunately their are much more powerful cars out there that are likely to have compatible clutches

The interchangeability will depend on which mechanism the clutch uses. Most use a pull-type, and there are a wide selection of uprated clutches as the Fiat Coupe 20V turbo uses one, and the Alfa V6 2.0 turbo, 3.0/3.2GTA also uses the same clutch type (the latter GTA clutch being better). Even the old Lancia Delta Integrale clutches are similar.
But it might be a push type, I think the 2.4JTD 20v as found in the 156 has a push-type as the clutch design is very different and I think the gearbox main shaft spline is also different.

So either the 2.4JTD 20v or the GTA clutch will fit I would say and would be uprated compared to your stock clutch. If you go to a Fiat dealer that has both types and yours in stock you can probably easily figure it out.

You could also look at 1.9JTDs on the alfa side as they have the more powerful engine in the first place.

BTW the juddering might be part of the problem - if the clutch is not making good contact with the drive plate or the flywheel then it will not hold as much power, and in either case I would suggest you get the flywheel skimmed when you get the clutch changed.

A while back I posted up about Valeo clutches which I used to use when grass track racing these really take some stick as the car is at peak revs in low gears most of the time while racing the cover plates have a higher clamping force and the clutch plates are on the heavy duty side I have oa complete set for my 1.6 sitting in my wardrobe up stairs at this moment for when the time comes to rip out the standard fiat one the good news is these are available from shop4parts I put up a list and price of the kits somewhere :) if you phone them make sure you specify VALEO (y)

I'm crap at finding these threads but if you click onto page 20 stilo technical and see the thread Two quick cluch questions by Decks then my list of cars and prices are in that thread :slayer:

Found the thread thanks, all i need now is to find some one to fit it.If anyone know's of a good/reliable and cheap garage in herts......thanks.
