Is this alternator tensioner pulley spring loaded or hidraulic actuated?
Mine does a noise since 1st day & belts are noisers, how often this pulley's bearing fail?

I dont now if this is different on the shoowee but on the 1.6 there isn't a tensioner the alternator is in a fixed position and there's special tool for skipping the belt onto the pulley (n) Now I can remember another member commenting on this a while back when he bought the cam locking tool and changed his cam belt and I'm pretty sure his is an abarth to :chin:

The post was about a stilo member who had been quoted around £700 pounds for a cambelt change and service i think it was and I suggested he bought the camshaft locking tools and do it himself and save himself considerable cost he came back to say he had done the jobs successfully and the locking tools were now for sale but he also had observed that the alternator had no adjustment like other cars and required a special tools for skipping the belt over onto the pulley :) so you are the same as me when searching for a post then bloody useless ;) :)

Yes your right Argo thats the thread and there's lots of it missing IE- where he bought the tool and the part where found that the alternator belt was in a fixed position looks as though the mods have had a clean up although I cant for the life of me under stand why  there was some useful info there

The "special tool" to put on the alternator belt isn't that special.

All it does is lever the belt on whilst turning the pulley. I'm sure most of us could do the same by levering the belt on whilst turning the other pulley with a socket wrench. Mind your fingers though

But lets be honest what a stupid idea when they could have put in an alternator with an adjustment they seem to have some damn cockeyed ideas do fiat

I suppose because the belts don't stretch and have good grip then it's a much quicker way to put on a belt and takes away any need to adjust the tension. Just cut the old one off and prise a new one on
