Just nipped round corner at work - and when started car got EBD and ABS failure messages on dash - stop engine -

Restarted car and got check ok - only had her 3 weeks - is this a sign of things to come :-(

That's just a welcome to the Stilo. Most of us have had that one at some time, usually just the sign of a slightly low voltage battery on start up. A good run and charge up of the battery usually makes it disappear

Phew - was getting a bit worried - se what I get when i finish work in 30 mins.

Thanks for the reply

I only get this if I dont let the car do its checks ie- put in the key and turn it straight away instead of letting all those dash lights go out first and THEN turning the key and starting :chin:

Cheers for all the advice chaps - thinking about it i didn't give the car chance to put out all the lights - so that would most likely be it. has not done it since anyway so heres hoping springs eternal -

Quite right Pil,the battery has to power up the numerous modules/nodes in the car, cranking the car straight away (with the starter clawing all available voltage) leaving the modules(ABS etc) with little voltage thus lower limit is met & warning is flagged.
As you stated if you let it do its checks (what 4-5 seconds) then its fine(y)

I find that mine's doing this when it's been sitting for a week or two, so again I suspect the battery. The messages only appear once driving forwards, i.e. after idling on my driveway while I close the garage, and then reversing down the driveway, only when driving away forwards do I get those lovely DIIIINGs...

Which reminds me, I've borrowed a super-duper battery charger from work (with the anti-suplhation pulses and the variable charge rate), so I must go and hook that up now.

I definitely wouldn't "RETURN TO DEALER" as it tells you to...
