Hi there,

My friend has a stilo with locking fuel flap, and it stopped working and he thinks its a fuse, but i'm not totally sure as i thought it is on the same loom as the central locking system. But if it is a fuse does anyone know which one it is.

As far as I know it does activate with the central locking and I would also think this would be on the same fuse dont despair as Decks will be around some where our local electronic man he will know for sure :) he's good at that stuff :D I'm sure he's battery operated :chin:

Well I ain't Decks but I can offer some help . . .

Basically, the fuel flap actuator is controlled directly from the drivers door node, "hardwired" in effect (it passes from the door node, through the A-pillar/drivers door connector, down the car, through the rear coupling then into the actuator).

I'd say the actuator is knackered, but it's worth checking there is power there too. Use a multimeter to do this.

Thanks Rroope, yeh i think it's worth him testing it to see whether the actuator is gone? It may be as simple as replacing to actuator motor. (y)

Then again, you say the stilo's auto fuel flap lock runs of the driver's door node (i take it that the black box thing inside the driver's door), which has been "hardwired". So does the wire exsist in stilo's without the fuel flap locker and would it be easy to put a new motorised fuel flap lock on it if the wire is or isn't there? Coz I hate the cheap cap lock one i've got on mine

Ho Carcazy at first I thought this 'my friend' thing was the well tried 'Doctor, my friend has an itchy rash in an embarassing place' . From your last post it looks like it really IS your friend with the problem :)

Hey Ralf, don't get me wrong, this wasn't a "my friend" issue but as Rroope has helped out before i thanked him on behalf of my friend. I wanted to change my fuel flap to an auto close lock ages ago, but fiat said it couldn't be done (so they say), so while i was on subject i thought i'd ask him that also. :)

hi

I pulled back the carpet on the right side of the boot and found a wire sitting the. It's seem quite close to the fuel flap. Could this be the plug that powers the electric motor for the auto flap lock.

I also tested it and it's live. So i guess the only way would be to try and plug it into a motorise flap lock thing.

Hey CarCrazy

From what I can remember that isn't the fuel flap connector; in fact, it's for the parking sensor node, and tells it that there is a towing hook fitted so that it disengages the sensors.

I may be talking complete c**p so will check it out, it's just that I remember that being on my mum's Stilo and she has parking sensors and an automatic fuel flap. Plus, it wouldn't be constantly live either, it would only send a pulse if it were for the locking.

Hey,

Finally got my auto locking fuel flap working in full operation. I found a salvaged stilo ask them to take out fuel locking lead(£5, not bad), went to fiat and bought a new lock with motor, and got my local mechanic to wire it up to the central locking system and he only charge me £40. Now i can get rid of that locking pip cap. :D
