So it seems I am going to have to buy a new stereo for my Stilo! (more money) as my CD changer has just packed up. After searching Forum it seems these Blaupunkt IDC-A09 changers are unreliable so I figure its not worth the £90 Blaupunkt want to repair!

So I am thinking of getting new head unit but want to be able to plug an Ipod into it to make use of Mp3 function. Can anyone tell me and recommend a head unit and tell me what I need to buy to do this! does the head unit have to have a aux on the front to plug Ipod in and what extra bits will I need for the ipod??????
I remember seeing a smark Ipod holder on here (custom made) I think it was Bozzy - can you tell me the head unit and what I need to buy?

Thanks in advance

Shminky, any Ipod ready head unit will work. I went for a Pioneer DEH-P6700MP head unit. Cost £90 new on e-bay. I then went for a CB-IB100 Ipod adaptor from e-bay agan about £40. The new version 2's are out and give a little more functionality. Nowt else apart from the ipod is needed.

Now, you may be in luck if you want the fascia panel the same as mine. I asked if anybody wanted an identical fascia panel to mine recently. I built one for Stilosporting and he has his in place now. If you want one knocking up let me know.

Thanks custard and Bozzy for your help!

Bozzy - when you say Ipod ready do you mean a head unit with an Aux (line in) on the front or is there more to it than that? does it have to be an Mp3 cd player?

Thanks

No, an Ipod ready head unit means the ipod is controlled by the head unit. You don't touch the ipod at all. All data comes up on the head unit.

or an itrip if ur not too bothered about quality :S but u can modify them with extra coil for better reception, but i have unscrewed my ariel so it doesnt pick up any other station, a quick fix so not to void any warenty things. until thats, then il look for a head unit.

So you bought an i-trip in the end then ? Is it as :tosser: as I said it would be?

its not to bad, but i found u have to remove the ariel or it keeps buzzing. plus the stilo is gifted that it has a dip infront of the 2 cup holders that the ipod can sit in and have decent reception. but now i have put my phone holder on the air vents so it sits in there nicely. all in all its not as good as hard wire but thats no shock, just look as wireless internet connections. u can live with it for sure but in the future i want a big revolving screen headunit with ipod connectivity to sit in that lovely 2din slot.
so all in all im not dissapointed, gona wait till i hit the middle of birmingham 2moro 2 see if the lovely buildings and radio waves there really mess with it, though i will no doubt be listening to the gps getting me lost.
