Hi Boys and girls

I have had a new Stilo about a year now. I have an Examiner but my green connectors for canbus do not seem to marry with what I percieve to be the diagnostic socket under the OS panel at the top of the fusebox.

Firstly is this the location of the socket and secondly do I need an adapter / new cable? I am fully conversant with diags on older fiats eg Seicento, Punto, Coupe, Barchetta all of which I have owned / currently own. Haven't had any exp. with canbus / proxi / body computer yet!

Please help - need to put the service light out!!!

Have most of the examiner cables MPX etc. and software - just not this variant.

Any body out there that can help???

Thanks:confused:

You have an examiner? You could be very popular:)
On later set ups I think they did away with the separate MPX connectors and made it all available at the OBD2 socket with a switchable control at the interface

Hi there and thanks for the reply everyone.

I think finding the forum made me finally go out and look at the location at thefuse box in the daylight. Your right and it is indeed an OBD2 connection and my MPX 97 plugs straight in. Diagnostics are now up and running. Got the examiner some time ago due to a dealer shutdown. All the accessories with it and have used in in anger on Coupe 20vt, Punto, Barchetta, Seicento EPAS you name it'll do it. You also need to have a good bit of savvy yourself!!!

Used to have a good contact at my local deler but they are now closed. Used to get ALL the latest software and stuff there butnow am bit out of date. Anybody know where I can get the latest cds for Examiner. Have a good collection up to ver 5 but it would be great to be up to date.

Thanks for the replies in what seems a good forum.

PS Am an engineer and slight anorak:) so I'll help were can on the tech S**t

Certainly is - the emerald Isle!!!

Where can u register other than a fiat dealership for the software updates? Will I also be able to get that ones that I missed. Some versions wouldn't install out of sequence.

Thanks;)

You can run upto but not including version 6.0 without registering, after that you need to register and pay an annual licencing fee, which from memory is around £300 a year, registration is done direct through Actia Italia.

Not all examiners are the same, some have a clock back feature which seems to have been a feature that could be switched on by Actia, if T can trace the software this would be alot easier for you. From memory this was discussed at a det meeting a few years ago, its possible there may be other stuff in the base programme. Keep us informed of what T finds out for you.

The green/black 16 pins obd connector on the MPX 97 is only suitable for different K-lines - not for CAN-diagnosis!
You will need the all-green CAN/EOBD connector cable which has a small pcb with CAN-chip inside to enable communication on CAN network. Your Examiner has to be updated with the CAN VCI card which has a 15 pins male and female connector for CAN- or K-line diagnosis.
You will need this CAN- cable and card to be able to put out your service light.
