what is the cheapest and easiest way to get some extra power out my car?

remap only gives something like 9bhp - not worth the money. (not yet anyway!!!)

stilo 1.4 active sport (55 plate) - bog standard so far.

cheers guys. what is the best air filter to get? K+N?

will get new exhaust - but not just yet - car is brand new yet - only 1200 miles so far.:)

spent 8k buying it - be a while before it is traded in - thanks anyway wing1200a!

Get a foam type filter. full stop. Bare in mind if you start to do things to the car it will become harder to sell. air filters & exhausts on none forced inducted cars wont do a great deal except make a lot of noise. but if thats what you want:slayer:

A friendly word of advise from me is if you start to do mods on your car for example the induction system as just one example it could invalidate certain parts of your warranty so at this stage of the game be very careful what you do to your car peticularly engine wise :) but if you wish to do mods then ask at your dealer before you proceed (y)

Personally, I just be happy driving one of the more economical cars in the Stilo range - presumably that's why you chose the 1.4 :)

Everything custard boy suggests plus a polish might make it go faster too :D

that is exactly why I bought the 1.4. it is still a nippy motor - I am well chuffed with it - could always do with being a little better though - the same with any car, I suppose.

At least it is 100 times better than my old motor though - an old rover!!!

Snap (y) P/x'ed my 1998 Rover 416 for mine. The Rover had a bad engine management problem which even the best Rover engineers gave up on. In contrast the JTD has great engine management (smoothness at low revs).

To be fair, the Rover I had before that one (old shape 214) was a great car and I couldn't criticize it at all :)

i had the old shape 414 on a H plate, car too big or engine too small - one of the two.

same size of enging on the stilo - but a world of a difference!!!
