My car's air con is not working, just blows out hot air :( It's being serviced
at the moment and the Garage, not a Fiat one says they can look at it, but if it needs recharging I will have to somewhere like Kwik-Fit.

I was wondering does anyone know how much Air con recharge costs ?

Had mine regassed the other week by an indepent guy, he said he does a lot of the work for big dealers, so I guess you're getting the same thing, but probably cheaper!

He charged me £59, and the difference was immediate, I was really impressed by the job, he measured vent temperatures, system pressure then checked for leaks. He said if a leak is found, he'll repair it and then regass, he'd charge for only one regass and the repair, which is good as a lot of places would charge you twice in these circumstances.

Phone around and see what is included, if they basically regass then walk away then don't use them, if you're system is leaking it will be good only for a very short time.

I just noticed you're in essex, I had my regass done in Norwich, so depending whereabouts you are in Essex it might be a possibility for you, he's mobile and just needs a 13 amp socket to plug into.

Cheers James.

The car is being serviced and MOT'd at the moment, but the garage said they will look at my air/con to see if there are any problems. So it might
need re-gassing or new pipes or pollen filter possibly :)

I Found a garage, M J Steptoe in Shoeburyness they charge £40 + vat

Going to take it there this afternoon :) I'm looking forward to air conditioning
working :) I dont like having my windows open, especially as I drive back from Basildon everyday and the A127 smells :(

Did the garage change your pollen filter?

It can make a massive difference to air-flow and sounds like you'll need it :D

I just called the Garage, they didn't change the Pollen filter as it's not part of their normal service, however they can order me one in and fit free of charge ;)

Any ideas on how much a Pollen Filter costs ? Could I fit myself ? what I mean by fitting myself would be getting my boyfriend to fit it :)

Normally between £8 to £16.

Very tricky to fit although lots of members have done it. Personally I'd do it myself as then you know it's done properly (lots of garages don't even know where it is!).

Check out the 'Guides' section (top of forum page) or do a search for 'pollen filter' :)
