If you've got the money then go for a JTD. My first diesel and I wont be going back!

Re: Used Stilo Advice

Id have to say the best engine is the abarth engine, straight 5 170 bhp undertuned with loads of grunt. But its a 2.4 and the insurance might not like it and youll not see much better than 32mpg.
The jtd seems like a good compromise to me and its easily tuned(remapped)to a decent bhp, good mpg and insurance shouldnt be a crippler if your not a old fart like me.

Re: Used Stilo Advice

Get a JTD and get a dynamic, you get steering wheel stereo controls and leather steering wheel/ gearstick, alloys, rear spoiler then

Only things you need to look for really are any error messages when going on a test drive. and obviously service history.

I suppose that's not too bad for a 2.5 litre but as you say the JTD has a lot going for it.

I can often get 62 mpg on a run and yet still have fun on the way

Determined to achieve 65 mpg one day but it's going to be hard going unless I drop below 70 mph or get caught in traffic (contrary to what you might expect - slow moving traffic can do wonders for good fuel consumption)

I got my JTD 7 months ago and I love it! Just make sure its 3dr [[follows abuse from 5DRers]]. 62mpg is very good! My best is 55mpg when Im really trying! As soon as I go over 75mph my fuel eco drops rapidly. 50-60mph stretches are best for me.
I average at 47mpg as i drive to work and back fairly rapidly. Still not too bad!

Re: Used Stilo Advice

JTD 3 door seems to be the pick of the bunch. if you go for the active make sure you get the higher BHP JTD (or was that 5 door models?) oh and the best advice.....try to get a warranty put on it, electrics galour on the buggers and a big sting if they go wrong. usually only a little light that goes away when put through the drive cycle but if it isnt expect to pay.
JTD is the future!
