For all those interested in getting their iPods connected to their CN+ units, I have today received an email from Dension confirming that in 14-21 days a "new" unit will be available from their resellers, which will finally have official support for the CN+ unit.

I will update when the unit has been delivered, installed and the results achieved.

Cheers for now.

www.cooltopia.com (Main Supplier/Distributor) has now got a small supply of the "New" model available priced at £99.99 + P&P.

You will need to telephone them to order it as yet it's not listed on their site.

I've ordered mine and should be setting it up later tomorrow when it arrives.

Dension have "suggested" this new unit works 100% with the Stilo's CN+ .

14 - 21 days! lol

I'm interested in just a normal Audio input for my MP3 Player (Not an iPod ) on my 1.6 Sport Active.

UPDATE :

Item was never dispatched due to a "issue" which has been discovered with the new model, Cooltopia took 3 days to tell me this, I'm not impressed and I would urge people not to use this company, they are unprofessional to say the least.

Dension still haven't got back to me to confirm/deny what the issue is, so I guess it must be a biggy.

I've decided to ditch this product as it seems very "flaky" and the product support from the UK distributor and Dension is pi$$ poor.

That's a damn shame 'cause it would have beem great if they've really taken care of it! lets hope it gets sorted out...

Well I for one, won't bother with Dension or Cooltopia again, in my experience with this sort of stuff, it's best avoided when they start to go quiet on customers.

It may also explain why Halfords have stopped selling Dension products.

I've ordered an iTrip instead, will see how that goes.

Hi, thinking of buying a Stilo.
Can someone please summarise all possible options for using an iPod with the stereo?

I read through the gorgeous seven pages of the previous Dension model - it wasn't a good sign!

Thanks,
-Alex

Well I went aftermarket stereo with an ipod adaptor. Ipod is charged via the adaptor and controlled by the head unit. See my pics it's quite neat without any cables showing.

Well against my better nature and the fact I just had a new CN+ fitted, I decided to call Cooltopia again and quiz them over the "new" issue they discovered.

I was told it was a Firmware problem which had subsequently fixed.

I re-ordered it yesterday and it arrived this morning, 10 mins later I had it hooked up, but wait, I can't get into the Menu, aaah, I don't have a button labelled "6" to access it.

Called Cooltopia, was told no problem, they will contact Dension on my behalf as a new "Configuration File" was needed to allow button "5" to be used instead and that it should be with me asap.

As a temporary measure, I was told to create some playlists, which I have done and wayhey it works.

The CN+ doesn't support CD Text so there is no ID3 Tag data shown on the screen, but it is shown on the iPod instead.

So far so good and yes it does respond to the Head Unit command buttons as advertised and the sound quality is excellent, just like a CD is playing.

I am really interested in getting one now, does anyone know if there are any further updates on the firmware issue?

Also, i'd like to know if even with the old firmware (where you couldn't access the menu) is it possible to just ut the i-pod on shuffle and play through all your songs or does it only work with playlists??
Thanks

Meant to do another "update" my Dension ILP went back, as I couldn't access the "Menus" despite being told I would be provided with a "configuration file" that would allow full use of it with my iPod.

After a few days of it being installed, the CN+ started to have some serious stability problems and kept crashing, until I uninstalled the ILP.

When Dension and Cooltopia were confronted on the issue, they said that allthough they guaranteed support, they obviously overlooked something.

It was returned 10 days ago and I'm still waiting for a refund from them.

AVOID like the plague.

I spoke to my Fiat Dealer about it, I was told the CN+ could be removed and the wiring adapted to suit a standard CD Head Unit, however if your CN+ was factory fitted there is a high probability that the ability to adjust some onboard "safety" features would be lost, so a new computer would be required to restore the cars full features.

I like the CN+ but, as the car is going in for another check on the central locking system next week, I've asked them to check and confirm if I would indeed need a new BC or if Examiner could handle a "reset" and have my Panasonic HU installed instead.

Safety features? All these are controlled by my on board computer, not CN+

Yes the OBC controls these, but the settings for these features can only be changed via the CN+, so removing them, fixes them onto their current settings.

If someone knows a work around that does not involve replacing the OBC then please let me know.
