Rear screen question

After seeing another thread with reference to the windscreen and the rain sensor I was wondering if I had a problem with my rear window.

As you most probably know my rear window was replaced due to it breaking and since then when I use my rear washer the wiper doesn't actually kick in automatically, and I could have sworn that it used to do that
Now I have to pull the washer thing and also control the wiping of the window, is this normal on the Abarth selespeed ?

Re: Rear screen question

Not sure about the Stilos, but my Mk2 Punto auto-wipes when i use the washer, and its only the Active, so I'm pretty sure the Abarth Stilo should have it

Re: Rear screen question

Don't know about the Abarth (although can't think why it would be different) but my 1.6 dynamic auto wipes when you squirt water. It wipes about 3 times then delays for about 4 seconds then wipes a final time.

Can't imagine why changing a screen would do this. You haven't had any software updates or anything done to your ECU lately have you? Just a thought as I would have thought the instruction would come from there.

Re: Rear screen question

Hmmm, so maybe it's something I should ask Fiat to look at then if it's not related to the window itself. Only problem is, I don't want them to replace the wiper motor because I had to adjust the angle with a rubber washer so the blade would miss my spoiler

Mine still doesn't work - as in I never did fix the rear washers, so can't even recall what they should or shouldn't do

Why I said it was I have a mate who runs his own bussiness well family bussiness and i can distinctly remember him telling me once that if its standard equiptment then it must work so i dismantled the rear washer/wiper if its not there they cante fail it

It's a cadamuro spoiler mate, just like all my kit. It may have fitted fine if the window didn't get replaced. There may have been a slight difference in possitioning of the new window, I think the RAC guy put it on about 1 or 2mm lower than the original to cover up a few small scratches that happened when the window got smashed. This meant that the spoiler came down further because the Abarth has holes in the window for the spoiler to fix through, whereas there was no way to pull the wiper down further to compensate other than changing the angle very slightly on the top bolt.

Hi Mark didnt get much sleep last night for reasons i wont go into regarding your problem with rear spoiler/wiper now if you could reduce the wipe radius wouldnt that solve your problem of wiper blade hitting spoiler you may be able to shorten the arm as some are riveted construction or use a smaller size blade to reduce the hight of wipe radius have a look it may be possible
