jtd headlight change - don't !

i've read a few posts about changing headlight bulbs, it sounded ok but could take some time to do. so i bought some philips gt150 bulbs and had ago at fitting them.

i removed the battery and pushed the battery case backwards after removing a few nuts and bolts, also undid the the washer bottle and pushed it back. I managed to get into both headlights to change the bulbs by removing the black plastic headlight cover - DO NOT DO THIS - you can't get the cover back on without removing the bumper as the angle to put it on is not there (hard to explain on here without actually seeing it)

so with no headlight covers fitted i look at Ben's gudie to removing the bumper as a last resort - bumper removed headlights removed and bulbs replaced, also replaced the fog lightbulbs. i still can't see how you remove the sidelight bulbs even with the headlight in my hand.

after 6hrs of messing around, bulbs are changed and the car is back together, but be warned it's a pain to do!

Re: jtd headlight change - don't !

oooo-err! After reading all the horror stories on the forum, I think I'll also let the Fiat garage make a mess of it instead of me! I've never had to change the bulbs on my current Stilo, and fingers crossed I'll be able to say the same about my next!

Cheers

Never have a problem and my hands are the biggest in the dealership. Halfords refuse to replace bulbs on Stilo, they send us their customers!

There's some cost saving irony in there somewhere or perhaps the moral is: take to the dealer unless you actually know what you're doing

Quick question - are so called uprated bulbs worth it?

Re: jtd headlight change - don't !

Sorry to here you had some probs changing the bulbs!
Fortunately i didn't have too much problems with mine.

Anyway the question is! after all that effort WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE GT150 BULBS? i have those in my Abarth.

Personally im finding them to a very good improvement on the originals.

The good thing is they have +50% light with a very slight blue tint! due to the coating on the end!

I would recomend these.......

the bulbs are much better than the originals, much more light in front and to the sides, also put vision plus in the fog lights, they are far more brighter

The back covers just slide back in, those two small clips on the wheel side going in first, and than click in place on the oposite side, really didn’t have any problems there. To change the bulbs I used the same way you did.

tried that but the indicator bulb housing got in the way and not enough room to slide the cover back in place.
