After having waited 2 month my new Stilo multiwagon, yesterday finaly
got it, also I reserved my first appoinment with service...
Why I always have to have s**tty versions! [xx(]
I managed to driver about 0.5 hour before ASR failure and ESP failure warnings appeared... [:(!]
There is quite loud "scratching" noice in front right wheel when I
turn right...
Well next thursday I'll know whats wrong with my car...

The ASR & ESP Failure is more than likely caused by a faulty brake light switch. This is common in Stilos.

Don't want to worry you unduly, but I had a noise on my front right on the 2'nd day turned out I need a new drive shaft.
I HAD ONLY DONE 28 MILES.(car was brand new).
Total mileage was 28 Miles.
Took six weeks to get a replacement.

I'll cross my fingers and hope for best...
Today I'll know...

ASR and ESP failure was caused in my case due to low battery voltage. Nevertheless their appearence was very brief and these readings dissapeared like they appeared. Instantly.

That noice was actually coming from back wheel.
It was caused by hand break wire that was touching tyre
when I turned.

ASR / ESP failure is still under investigation because they
get tomorrow new version of tester software. The older version
was unable to find the ASR/ESP failure.

I THINK THAT THIS NOISE HAS BEEN DISCUSSED ALREADY! I CANNOT REMEMBER ON WHICH TOPIC. i AM SURE THOUGH THAT THERE WAS A POST SOMEWHERE FROM ATHANASIOS MENTIONING THE WIRE TOUCHING THE TYRE.

Yes,as Pantjo said the wire of the handbrake touches the suspension and when it bends you hear this noise but this is for the rear suspension.Another one is might be the suspension bars gets full of mud when it dry you hear the soil decoke is very common as ive been told.

Hi

Twice now I've suffered from ABS and ASR faults when starting the car left overnight - both times i've turned the ignition off and restarted the car after these two, and all is fine. And both times my dealer doesn't find a fault!!!!!

Apparantly the mechanic (who I must say is pretty G.D. Good) is phoning Fiat Technical and asking them. He did ask me if i rested my foot on the clutch pedal - apparantly there is a switch on the clutch pedal which tells the car if the clutch is engaged or disengaged. Resting your foot on it can cause dodgy signals to be set to the car, hence a fault. He also asked if it was just a light i saw, or if it was the full-blown "ASR failure" with the spanner icon.

Anybody got any ideas??

I notice something today.I set the auto-headlamps ON at morning now its dark and when i put the key to mar position the headlamps lights on many other cars that have the auto-headlamps turns on when the car starts not in mar position about 30 minutes in mar position i took the key out when i put it again in mar position to do the diagnostics it showed me the ASR/ABS failure twice i put the auto-headlamps OFF i do the same thing as above i put the key in mar position it do the diagnostics and no fault at this time.Weak battery?weak alternator?i dont know for now.

Hi guys.... just found these forums. Had a X plate Punto for 3 years and recently got me a Stilo 1.2 active.

When I picked up the stilo, I had problems with ABS and EBS failures flashing up. I had my dealer take a look and they found the fuse in the engine bay was loose. The replaced it securely and everything has been fine since. Dunno if this helps...

Cheers

I had the abs/asr failure errors on startup while having the airbag error appearing. took it in to resolve and while fixing the airbag error (seat sensor) it was also able to resolve the abs/asr error.
also had the noise from the rear left wheel, was the hand brake cable also

ASR & ESP failure was caused by insufficient amount of "cold" fluid in air conditioner...
There should be 500mg cold fluid in air conditioner and in my car was
only 380mg...
Now ASR & ESP failure is solved!:D

Why would a low fluid level in the air conditioning cause problems with the ASR/ESP? [?]

Mind you, bit of a silly question really. After all, we're dealing with Fiat electronics here.

On the plus side, it could be some super feature that gives you a quick blast of cold air to calm you down after slamming on the brakes :)

I was wondering the same thing... [8D]
I heard that my car wasn't the only
one having the same problem here in finland.

They emptyed air conditioner fluids and put new fluids in and 'Voila'.
No ASR/ESP failure code anymore... :D

so, in other words every one has a tale to say! go figure now...

1) faulty break light switch
2) low battery voltage
3) resting ones foot on clutch
4) fuse in the engine compartement
5)insufficient amount of cold fluid in the air con

are these enough reasons?? I wonder!
Maybe we should all perform an exorcism with the hopethat the car will not spit hot oil on us! or leak petrol on the carpet(!?!!?!):)
