My car wasn't accelearting good sometimes was working, sometimes not
for example when I hold the gas at 2000RPM after a few seconds the car start accelerating fast and black smoke seen from the left mirror.
I suspect that it could be EGR valve so yesterday I took the EGR Valve off the car to clean it.
We clean it good with my father and he said to check it on ignition key, but the EGR didn't move at all, could it be dead or EGRs start at different time?
For example after the cleanup we connected the cable and turn the ignition key on, but the EGR doesn't move at all or nothing (not opening), could this be the reason my car isn't accelerating well or could be another.
I'm also thinking to clean the MAF sensor, just tommorow will reattach the EGR and see if it will be the same.

The black smoke usually indicates a problem with the EGR. My wife's diesel Saab had the symptoms you describe. Cleaning the EGR cured the smoke and slow acceleration. However, the warning light on the dashboard - the EGR - is still illuminated. The car runs perfectly...

If you are certain that the EGR was cleaned perfectly, try fitting a 'blanking plate' into the EGR. A 'blanking plate' is something that blocks the EGR. It tricks the engine management system:

Usually, a problem with a MAF or MAP can cause the engine to stall, cut-out or be erratic. Try cleaning your MAF -or disconnect the electrical sensor to see if it makes any difference to how the car drives.

It is sometimes difficult to diagnose which is at fault - EGR or MAF. Your problem seems to be air/fuel related. I would suspect the EGR...

OK....

So general rule of thumb for you:

Lack of power below 2,500rpm points to EGR problem.

Lack of power above 2,500rpm points to MAF problem.

General rule of thumb and not to be taken totally literally. So sounds like you've correctly identified that your EGR is at issue.

Plugging it in and testing it with the ignition on and off is not a valid test - i.e. that won't work! That doesn't mean your EGR isn't working, just that the EGR wouldnt move under these conditions.

If you've got MultiECUScan and diagnostic cable then you can run an actuator test on the EGR valve to see if it's working.

I'm fairly sure Fiat released a technical bulletin about fitting a restrictor on the EGR valve, although this could have been for the 16v motors not the 8v more commonly found in the Stilo. Either way you could get away with fitting a restrictor (possibly even blanking completely) which would help eliminate EGR issues.

I know later models if you blank it completely should give an engine warning light and an air quality / pollution fault but there is every possibility the earlier (lower euro class) engines didn't have this fault code.

Well my car isn't showing any errors according to EGR or MAF.
Before start the car it's shows problem with the glow plugs, like some of them isn't working and the other errors are: Stop Engine, Airbag Failure.
Could this thing put the car into save mode? so the car isn't running good.
I also tried to start the car without the EGR valve and it's working, there's no any other errors shown in the front.

It's available for both.

EGR and MAF won't give fault codes unless you unplug them; its not something that's really measurable so you can't assign a fault code to what the EGR and MAF do other than the basic circuit detection stuff. So if your MAF or EGR aren't working correctly, you'll not get any codes for them.

If you're getting engine and airbag warnings then something else is going on too. Obviously the airbag warning isn't going to be directly related to engine activity.

Are you sure you've not got electrical issues, like a crappy battery?

The battery gone dead last year, so I changed it already.
Also something strange is, that when I turn my headlights and then change it to long distant beamlight, the first headlights doesn't turn off and it's like, two of them are working at the same time.
Also I changed couple times the bulbs for headlights.

I was able to start the car without an egr cable plugged, it does start.
Also after cleaning of the egr it's the same, but this time I precisely look at the RPM's and when I hold the gas pedal about 2700-800 for couple seconds, turbo is starting otherwise not. I bet cleaning the MAF will be good idea.

If you get no joy after cleaning the MAF, just buy a new one.

I got a new one whilst I was trying to get to the bottom of a persistent "Engine fault" error. The MAF wasn't the problem.. but anyhow fuel economy increased about 10% so it quickly paid for itself.. :D

Make sure it's a Bosch one though. The cheaper ones without a brand name can give irregular readings and fail pretty quickly, so won't be much better than your old one.
