Ragazzi,

What's that round casing on the end of the cylinder head (next to cylinder # 4)? It's held on with three bolts. I've got a fairly severe oil leak from around there. I suspect it's the usual rocker cover gasket where it loops over the cam-shaft.. but until I remove the engine cover and have a proper nose around I won't be sure.

I just wanted to have a look on ePer to see what else it could be (for instance the unusual "camshaft journal" that the gasket sits over may be leaking from between the head and the journal rather than at the rocker gasket... (can't see a gasket in there).

If anyone knows which page of ePER this end of the head is shown on, or the name of the round casing/location of the journal, so I can try to find it myself, it would be handy.. :)

It's the vacuum pump. Diagram below is for the 8 valve engine, the 16 valve one is different.

Cheers lad! No wonder I couldn't find it in the Cylinder Head section of ePer.. :D

I'll take a look under the cover this weekend (no tools where I am at the moment) - there's oil coming out from somewhere and ending up all over the front of the gearbox.. but I think it looks a lot worse than it is, since the oil level is falling but only really slowly. I suspect the cam-cover gasket.. :)
