Ist Fiat might be last the way things are going.
Started couple months ago as a slight misfire thinking needed a service. Then really misfired and then driving home misfiring then temp gauge rising, EML flashing on and off and car eventually overheated.
Result Head gasket gone head warped, cylinder head skimmed and re-seated on two cylinders also, water pump replaced timing belt kit done also.
Injector replaced orig fiat part. One massive bill later and guess what still misfiring
Auto elec checked coil and pack ok faults coming up intermittent 3 cylinder misfire and also O2 sensors both of them.Sent away emu away verdict the connectors are loose and need re-soldered but after testing no intermittent 3 cylinder fault gave the go ahead to re-solder pins and send back to refit. If still running like a dog I am out of ideals and so is the independent Fiat garage any views apart from the obvious
compression test across 4 cylinders 180
auto-elec checked wiring to coils ok
new injector replaced
spark plugs checked and new

ECU back put on running ok then after 10mins back to 3 clyinders.Diag put on same again...any thoughts before kissing goodbye after £1000 spent

Have you done the obvious stuff like move the coil pack to see if the fault follows the pack?

Have you relocated the ECU after having it repaired. If you don't relocate it's a ticking time bomb before the same problem happens again.

Here is a good video of the problems with the 1.6 ECU, for your understanding:

The mechanic did that with the coil changing from one clyinder to another remained on misfire 3...will mention the issue about relocating ECU as videos shown,,,this might explain running 10 mins then faults and misfire...Heat Vibration and I take it generation of electricity which could effect the ECU??.I thought about lambda sensor errors more so pre one as its sending back wrong info to ECU hence acting the way it is..sorry clutching art straws.Cheers for the reply the car has onlt 68000 on it

Wenyt down to garage ref taking off ECU from engine and temp moving it,started car running ok for 10mins till heated up then back down to 3 clyinders, also checked alternator voltage when running at start till going down showing over 14Vs??.is the manifold drawing in air?pre lambda sensor due to heating 10mins car? compression across clynders 180, going away on Holiday Thu to think about next steps??running out of things to check and replace before enough is enough:mad::mad::mad::mad:

well at least your alternator is clearly working just fine.
