Hi guys,

So, I have 2001 Fiat Stilo Abarth 2.4l I5, FWD, 5 speed Selespeed automatic gearbox. From factory it produces 170hp. Anyway I was thinking of putting a turbo and maybe expanding engine to 2.6l which should give me around 400+ hp. So i was wondering how efficient is selespeed gearbox with putting that power to the ground and what is maximum power and torque figure for that gearbox?

If you have enough money to alter your engine, ECU , brakes , tyres, suspension , cutch, insurance .
You can afford to just try your existing gearbox.

I don't know what power the gearboxes will take but......

Selespeed is not a reference to the gearbox but the gear shift mechanism. The selespeed is a computer controlled set of hydraulic actuators that take the place of the gear lever and cables. It is a computer controlled manual shift, so has all the normal clutch etc of a manual, not a torque converter like you'd expect of an auto.

So the gearbox is entirely the same as the true manual.

Where you may, or may not, have difficulty is if you need to upgrade the clutch. I don't know how well the sele system will cope with a heavier harsher clutch.
