Had my stilo regassed last year. Air con worked perfectly during the summer.

this year it just puts out warm air no sign of any cold air.

so far i've -

bought regas kit from halfords....plugged in checked pressure and it shows more than enough pressure so i'm assuming correct level of gas. though i do wonder if it just shows high pressure because nothings working not because things are ok. regassing my croma i noticed it shows high pressure when you connect it with engine off then pressure drops back to normal level with engine on.

checked error codes using mes....

left mix motor feedback signal low fatal
air recirc actuator signal low stored
left mixing actuator invalid signal stored
polution sensor signal high stored

taken left mix motor apart cleaned potentiometer with contact cleaner put it back together and that's cleared the invlalid signal error, also found that the mix motor had snapped it's white plastic spigot part so i've ordered one of them from fiat for £9

recirc motor is a bit more of a pain to get out being higher up so temporarily ive opened the flap and wedged it open to get fresh air in, found the small white plastic arm that actuates the flap has snapped off.

checked all fuses associated with climate, all good

visibly watched the air con compressor clutch turn on and off.

any one have any idea what i could try next?

would any of the faults stored prevent the climate from getting cold? ie polution sensor stops air con switching on or invalid signal from left mix motor? does the climate ecu read that error and refuse to work until all errors are fixed?

In a commercial A.C. system, the fans must be running for the compressor to be enabled. There is an air pressure switch detecting the rate of airflow.

I'd suspect a car system is setup in a similar way. You're fans aren't moving enough air, blocked filters or the pressure switch may be fsulty.

After that, you're into a long list of potential issues.

Fixed dodgy heater blend motor plugged it into regas machine at work. Climate control now working as it should.

Must have been low on gas. Won't be bothering with one of those crap regas things from hAlford again waste of money.

Unfortunately they are, yes. They typically cost around the £30 mark, which is what you can get a professional regas job done for these days.

At least you know with the professional job it's vacuum leak tested and has the correct amount of oil and gas put in to the system.
