I have a 1.9 jtd 115. I have just had thermostat replaced. The car warms up nice and quick and the needle sits at the mid point of the temp gauge.. However the car cuts out whilst driving a long. Engine light comes on, rpm dies, battery and oil light come on. If I try to restart it just turns over. If I leave it to cool for 10 mins it will then start and drive but has engine light on.

Is this related to the thermostat replacement?

Yes the engine speed sensor (crankshaft position sensor) is a very common fault on JTD engines of that age. Once it goes the symptoms are exactly as you described.
