hi there, I
have this issue, I have a 1.6 16V dynamic 02 Plate, this happened when I changed my clocks, I went from the boring one to the one that has a full LCD which looks fab, but every time I start the car the needle goes in to the red fallow by 2 beeps then drops where it should be! only once in a while I don't get the beeps and the needle stays where its meant to be and get the cheek ok message on the screen, I did also change the heat sensor to try and fix the issue but was still getting the error, if anyone know how to stop this please let us know, it does drive me round the bend hearing the beeps every time i start the car.....

Kind Regards

I don't understand what problem you're trying to fix. The title of the thread is oil pressure light, then you say "the needle goes into the red", then you say you've changed the heat sensor to try and fix the issue.

To get the Abarth multi function oil pressure and oil temperature gauges to work, you'll need to fit, and wire the oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge sensors. Only the Abarth 2.4 engine has those sensors fitted.

The oil pressure gauge sensor is item 13 in the first diagram below. The oil temperature gauge sensor is item 12 in the second diagram. The low oil pressure warning light switch is item 9 in the first diagram, and is the same for all Stilos.

looks like the gauge and switch are just T'ed into the oil pathway, but I think the OP is talking about the Water temperature gauge as the 1.6 with LCD dash doesn't have a gauge for oil pressure (I expect it is an LCD segment display on the Abarth as well, rather than a gauge?)

At "boot" the water temp dial sweeps to max and then to actual, and sometimes on mine it shows exceeded maximum water temp, but is ok with a re"boot".

edit: actually, maybe "oil level" is a segmented LCD indicator.....no idea how the Abarth oil pressure is indicated.

I assumed it was the Abarth instrument panel that the OP was fitting.

Oil pressure and temperature on the Abarth panel are displayed as in the photo below. For low oil pressure, the display changes to the traditional oil can, as in the diagram below.

As far as I know, only the early JTD engines had an oil level indicator. My March 2003 JTD has it, my November 2003 JTD doesn't,

hi there guys thank you all for your reply, sorry i may have confused a few people,

yes I have the Abarth cluster installed in my car, and my mistake it is the water temperature gauge I was referring to, when the car is turned on 9 times out of 10 the needle does go to max fallowed by the beep beep high water temp then goes back to its correct temperature,

is there away to fix this issue? ant info would be gr8 guys, and thanks again for all your input,

Kind Regards
Dom.....

I was differentiating between switch and gauge. My 1.6 with Abarth colour LCD display displays low pressure and has a switch on the engine, but the Abarth has a switch and a gauge on the engine......but maybe that gauge is temperature rather than pressure looking at your displays.

edit: sorry, didn't read your post properly. Both those are oil...temperature, and the other is definitely pressure? I was thinking of an after-market pressure gauge....not so sure about the coarseness of the scale on the segmented display...even if mine could be calibrated/adjusted to read an Abarth sender.

the sweep to max and back to actual is normal at "boot", but not sure why yours is triggering the hi temp alarm....it should really wait till the sweep has finished before monitoring it.
