This happened a couple of weeks but I completely forget to write it up.

I started my car on the Wednesday night and flicked the lights on, got a message saying; Number plate bulb (cant remember exactly what it said) Ok I thought no problem, two minute job I'll get the bulb and sort it.

I checked the fiat book (dont know why I bothered!!) It told me I needed a W5W all glass bulb (page 281 in your book if you wanna check) When I removed the lense its not its a Tubular bulb, so congratulations to fiat on an excellent maintenance section!!

Anyway....... I stuck the new bulb in and flicked the lights on.... NOTHING the bulb was still not lighting up. I checked the contacts with a multimeter and there was a current going through. I presumed there was a break in the contacts in the lense and prepared myself to have to go to the garage in the morning.

Friday morning came and I thought I'll try once more before I go (you know what its like, you dont wanna look stupid if you get there and it works ;)) and the bloody thing only came on!!

Anyone got any ideas why it took 12 hours before the car decided it liked the bulb ??

Ah, sounds like one of my phantom faults, except in my case when it started to complain that the number plate bulb wasn't working it actually was.

Even the flippin' computer is lying to me now!

Hi

Ive just had this problem: the computer would say "Number Plate Bulb" for about 3 seconds, then go away, then re-appear 3 seconds later. This would continuously repeat! I drove into Halfords (where I work) and got a new bulb. I went to fit it in the car park and a bit of the contact fell out, hence the fault! I put the new bulb in, pushed the damaged receptacle just on the lens, put it back in and its gone away - going to get Fiat to replace it soon.

It's a standard 12 hour waiting period. It's to make sure you're not using a new bulb without first considering the consequences!! ;)

I make sense nothing but!!

It didn't go. It got to seven grand and then stopped. I'm not sure if the buggered up advert had anything to do with it (the text was white on white!). EBay have refunded my listing fee because of this problem so I'll stick it on again in a couple of days and bung it in Auto Trader. See what happens...

Hi Roja

I said this before, lovely car, but you've gotta be in for the long haul, residuals are rubbish. I bought mine in June, brand new, loved the car but wanted more ooommmpphhh, saw a used JTD and an Arbarth at my dealership, £10995 and £9995 respectively, went to have a look, talked about a trade in, they offered me £5500 on a four month old car with 4000 miles on the clock! So guess what, the Stilo Sport stays, until its three year warranty expires.

Italian car is like Italian woman, passionate and beautiful in her youth, big fat mamma that breaks your balls as she gets older!

Remember you bought it with your heart not your head!
