Hey up all,

I love my Stilo, but soon it will be going to car heaven, in the next 3 to 4 months and I will be buying another motor.

I love the Stilo and how it looks, i just wish i had spent the extra cash sooner and bought a diesel one.

Looking at diesels - the Sporting MJet 150 is what i would like.
I dont think the 150 multijet is available in any other model.

I dont want to go down the 2.4 route as its group 30 insurance, cant afford that.

So guys, can anyone recommend a decent 150hp diesel stilo.
Wanting one around Feb to April time :)

Ideally not too high milage.

Im looking to get rid intake maifold needs a change and front bumper and wing needs changing if your looking for a project

Just waiting on response from seller to see if i can pay and collect on 24th.

Fingers crossed guys.
It's had a new dual mass flywheel and clutch.
79k on the clock.
Immaculate condition :)

Thoughts?

Now where to source a beefy stainless / ceramic downpipe.
Are they available for this engine / turbo.

Nice mate

Re exhaust availability - no not really. A remap and a decat should be more than sufficient for these to run good power.

Not sure how the induction setup is on the stilo but a good free flowing replacement element, FMIC and decat plus remap should be good for over 200bhp.

Edit to say that if you really want performance you should try work out if the Alfa Q2 diffs will fit the box on it. The performance advantage that'll give you out of corners will blow your mind.

I will definitely look into this.

I will be doing plenty to this new car under the bonnet and its mechanical's.
Might tint it and put some nice wheels on but thats about it for aesthetics, want it to look as standard and nice as possible but with more Oooomph :) having said all this, i haven't drove it yet - im sure i will love it and then want more (as we always doooo) so fingers crossed.

Seller confirmed 24th is fine, small deposit to hold it seems fair, insurance are saying 25th if i want to transfer to this car so... waiting on answers again!

Fingers n toes still crossed.

Just a remap alone and nothing else should give you an Abarth beater. You should be able to clear 175bhp on remap alone, which gives you more power than Abarth and being turbo diesel should have more torque.

I put a front mount intercooler really easily into my Alfa 156 with just a cheap £150 universal intercooler kit on 2 inch plumbing, which worked very well.

Welcome to the Stilo Mjet club, you'll love it!
I adore mine, traded up from a Stilo Jtd with a BMW 330D in between and in all honesty the Stilo is a much better car than the BMW.
Mines been remapped, took it to a claimed 185bhp never had it on a Dyno to prove though. Even as standard the performance shocked me, the pull is incredible and for diesel the range is fantastic too.
The only plans I have for mine are to have the EGR mapped out and to install an FMIC.
With regards to the exhaust, if you find one, let me know!

surprised you didn't like the 330D.

The great thing about diesels is the torque though. My Audi for example is a 4 litre V8 twin turbo diesel. It has as much torque as a Lamborghini Murcielago. Its a great way to be propelled down the road!

If you're considering remaps I'd recommend contacting Gus at Alfatune.

He is an alfa remap specialist, if you hadn't guessed by the name.... but its the same engine and was way more common across the Alfa range as it was in the 156, 147 and virtually every GT sold in this country. So I'd be very surprised if Gus wasn't able to do you a killer remap and offer some great tuning advice.

I was thinking this, i dont want to push it too far stock, the bravo's have been mapped to around 200-210 and some people have mentioned bad vibrations under load, on the dyno they seem fine but on a drive they feel like the dmf is giving up... so i want to be careful.

The FMIC sounds like a very good idea and at that price is very reasonable.

Thanks for the Welcome :) - I may PM you in the near future for some advice.

Thanks for that bud, closer to the time - i will do some digging around and will probably have a few questions for you.

Forgot to mention - the deposit has been paid, car is being held, insurance sorted out, just the drive down and a bite to eat before she comes home with me :)

Yey

The 330D was a great car to drive, the power was great! However I got fed up with the many issues they seem to encounter. I replaced a set of swirl flaps, an EGR valve, a fuel pump relay, two auxiliary fuel pumps and finally the fuel pressure reg gave up at this point I lost my rag and sold the car. The Stilo came up on Ebay and the rest is happy history.. my Stilo has given me much less trouble in the same time frame. Other than a replacement turbo

its been fantastic!

So the car is finally home - and what a drive!!

Just need to name her now... and judging by the power, its not standard, its a beast - so she needs a beasty name.

It has a k&n air filter fitted and feels much more quicker than your average 150hp astra sri (i have owned one before on lease) and drove the bravo multijets, it puts them to shame - first gear is useless with foot flat to floor, second it tries to torque steer - great fun, not on the tyres tho...

Here she is, i will take more pics later.

also, finally - can someone help me with the stereo, its stuck saying "PHONE" but there is no phone connected, i have radio code and car has bluetooth and two lovely buttons near the interior light to answer and end calls - would love a working stereo!!.

going to strart a new thread to post about my niggles tho - every car has them and this has a few... hope it isnt a money pit however, saying that - she is worth it, i would happily spend 3 grand keeping this thing sweet - i did with the 1.2 but we fell out after that, hopefully these niggles wont cost a grand and the stilo love will carry on.

now for that name....

Nice to see you have the car mate. Hope you find less niggles than I did!

So far:

1) Stereo stuck on PHONE
tried everything i can think of, removed can line connector incase it was shorting a signal to put it in phone from bluetooth module but still did the same.

2) gearbox - all gears are fine, pulls strong but its not self centering, feels a little stiff having to move it left to right to go through the box... will look at that next month.

3) front bumper had a cheap repair job done, needs doing properly - nothing major.

4) it has a k&n and ive never drove a 150 hp car like this, i think it may have been remapped, if you build up too much boost - it doesnt like it, maybe its running too much - will get this checked next month on pay day, for now i dont floor it in 1st, if i do im immediatley lighting up the tyres and at the end of the rev range before i can even look... everything tells me its been remapped.

5) no remote key fob, going to have to buy one and code it to the car with MES, not going to be that cheap for a new remote fob and blade, then there is the transponder programming, my current key is moulded and cant be split :(

with all that to do and get sorted im going to be busy,

I have a decat pipe that may fit. It's for a 147 alfa so I'll research it. Think there's 2 cats on the car. One near the turbo and one mid pipe.

Look on js tuning in Holland. That's where I got my decat from on my 115hp jtd.

Or Gazella racing I think.will check

2 - will be something like these - very common on the Alfa cars and of course you got the same engine. You can buy the new bushes but most people just remove and grease the living crap out of them and make do. see pic in eBay link

I doubt it's remapped - its just the torque of a diesel mate. Diesel motors run way higher compression than petrol and generate a whole bunch more torque. It's good fun, isn't it!

5 - I dont think it has to be a brand new key for Fiats, does it? I know some marques require brand new keys which can't be changed but I've not seen this written regarding Fiats, could be wrong. I want a second remote for my car and was fully intending to just get the codes from Fiat and buy a used key off eBay, put a new key shell on it and call it done. You would of course need to get a new key blade and have it cut to match your car but that's easy.
