Hey up guys,

Had a bit more time to play about with MES today.

I have some airbag faults, when i bought the car it was all fine, no airbag light then two weeks prior to first MOT with me owning it and boom, airbag light came on.

It was intermittent and went off, then came back on and off a few times, after about 3 months of been off (no light on dashboard) - it came back and stayed since.

I have checked the codes in MES.
I cleared them and one has gone away, possibly caused when the previous battery went flat, but some other codes come back straight away.

I'll try be as clear and detailed as possible, if someone can tell me the HEX code for each airbag (which is which) that would be great.

1: 0F - Side airbag (passenger)
The reason for this fault is Open circuit
The current status of the fault is Intermittent
The error counter value is 156

Looks like the fault has appeared 156 times according the counter.

2: 09 - Passenger squib circuit
The reason for this fault is Open circuit
The current status of the fault is Intermittent / Present
The error counter value is 4

Looks like the fault has appeared 4 times according the counter. I suspect that this fault is the one that was intermittent and caused the Light to come and go in the past, the other faults are what is keeping the light on now, i think that according the values on the fault counter

3: 0F - Side airbag (passenger)
The reason for this fault is Value too high
The current status of the fault is Intermittent / Present
The error counter value is 109

Looks like the fault has appeared 109 times according the counter.

4: 0E - Side airbag (driver)
The reason for this fault is Open circuit
The current status of the fault is Intermittent / Present
The error counter value is 57

Looks like the fault has appeared 57 times according the counter.

Cleared fault codes and below i know have:

1: 09 - Passenger squib circuit (error count still 4)

2: 0F - Side airbag (passenger) (error count still 109)

3: 0E - Side airbag (driver) (error count still 57)

Checked the ECU today, all connectors and pins look nice and clean so doubt its that side of the connections...

Need to know what HEX addresses relate to which air bag in the car, will have a look at troubleshooting in eLearn and see if that tells me.

Any help greatly appreciated.

eLearn doesn't help much with these error codes.
I have a 7GB eLearn DVD downloaded that has all models up until 2014 so that might be better or have more detailed info, will check over the next week when I have some more time to install and fiddle, may even host it if it's possible, will have to see.

They're not addresses, they're just fault codes in HEX format.

OE and OF are the side airbags in the driver and passenger seats. (Orange connector under each seat)

09 is the front airbag in the passenger side dashboard. (Orange connector above a flap in the top of the lower glovebox)

Excellent - thanks for that Davren - just what i needed to know.

So then, hopefully will get some time this weekend to take out the glove box and compartment above it... then the weekend after ill take the seats out properly, done it once before on the passenger side - will do it again, need to give it good valet under there and will fix the connections there... fingers crossed that will fix them issues.

You don't need to take the glovebox or seats out to check/clean the connectors.

Open the lower glovebox, then you'll see a small, rectangular, plastic access panel in the top of it. There may be a screw holding the panel, or it may just pull out. With the panel removed, you can reach up to get to the connector. There's enough spare wire to enable you to pull the connector down into the glovebox.

The seat connectors are mounted on a tray that swivels out from under each front seat. There's a plastic locking clip that secures each tray to the seat frame. Release the clip, then swivel the tray out forwards.

Disconnect the battery and wait 20 minutes before disconnecting any airbag related wiring.

Thanks Davren,

I know about the seat connectors and how they come out.

However, i need to pull out the seats to get under the middle of them and under the carpet where the blower pipes are as it needs a good wash and vac, bits of glass lurking under there from when i had to break in.

Also - thanks for the glove box trick, may try that later on, was wondering if the switch could cause anything as i have turned off that airbag before when i had the car seat mounted in front seat.

Had an idea, this weekend I'll have an hour two spare so...

I'll disconnect the exclusion switch connector and read the code for it :) then let you know.

It's probably going to be the same code for most of the fiat range, so panda was probably throwing up the same code, potty you didn't save it lol.

Will also fix my other codes this weekend so the airbag light will be off and that's one last annoying fault lit on my dash... right now it might as well be a Christmas tree... I've got the following lit up, EML, Airbags, Passenger airbag (cos it's turned off), fuel light, dipped beam, fog light.

So as you can imagine, driving in the winter nights - my dash has lots of lights on it lol
