Hi Guys,

Did anybody have tried to replace your steering wheel with another one?
Replaced by another FIAT one?
I`m looking to swap mine, don`t have the stereo controls, for another one and I`m looking to see what`s on the market!

Tx for the assist!

I thought about this when I had my original stilo. I wondered wheather a leather fiat coupe one would fit. Hated the moulded stilo wheel.

My new multiwagon tho has the leather wheel with steering wheel controls and find it to be much more comfortable and presentable.
Defiantly worth looking at especially as should fit fine.

Without comparing steering columns from the various cars it's impossible to know what would fit or not. They're a toothed shaft like a drive shaft. I know some cars, like citroen, key the shaft as well although I dont recall my Alfas being keyed.

It is actually a very straight forward and simple job to do if you find a compatible wheel that you wish to fit.

Do you know where I can get one of those coupedummy? Is there a junkyard that would ship it overseas?

Here in Brazil there's only the parallel ones, which are just poor adaptations of the already poorly design OEM. Or the OEM one being covered in leather, which doesn't pleases me as I find the original steering wheel kinda sucks.

I have a Mazda MX-6 which has a leathered one, with a nice grip area at 8 and 2 o'clock, that is awesome. Was looking to see if anyone on the forum did some sort of search on available, and mountable, steering wheels that would fit =/

I'll keep checking over here then!

Forum member gadge fitted a 500 Abarth steering wheel to his Stilo. There's a thread about it here: https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo/291108-new-steering-wheel-no-horn.html
.

Hi Davren!

Tx for the information! Glad to hear that the abarth can be used! Always thought they look awesome. I'll be on the lookout for that steering wheel from now on, it seems :slayer:!!!
Do you know of any other that can be fitted? Or know of any other documented adaptations made by anyone on the forum?

FYI: it's page 5 that has the description of the adaptation!

Tx Again!

They look great on the stilo however it's not quite a straight fit. You will have to shave the boss down by about 8mm or the wheel will sit proud of the colum cowling. Not a big problem but it's unsightly seeing all the wires behind that nice wheel. Also despite the airbag/horn connector looks the same the pin for the horn is in the wrong position so you will to move it along so it lines up with the horn pin on the car - the radio controls won't work either.

I saw on the post that the connectors could be re arranged to be made work.
Is that not true? Is it not the same procedure that the one to make the horn work again?

Tx

Yes as I say you will need to move one of the pins along. If you have an electrical multimeter you can identify which pin is which and then just unpick the pin from the connector and move it along

Hi Rafa,
I have access to a stilo Abarth leather steering wheel without controls if your interested. Can be shipped also.
I will post a pic later for you on the thread and see what you think. Should be a straight fit.

I would have bought it myself, but I need all 11 buttons.

On this occasion I'm grateful that my Abarth doesn't have any steering wheel controls and a manual box, so it's perfect.

Appreciate the heads up.

Will package it away as the Abarth is off into storage for a couple of months until I get some stuff straightened out. Thinking of selling my Audi and keeping the Abarth for me as the wife now has a Peugeot. The Abarth was previously hers.

Hi!

Can you post a picture of the steering wheel? I'm actually interested as since the 500 Abarth SW is about 300 euros, i don't think that in a foreseeable future I'll be able to pick one up.

I looked at the 500 abarth here in brazil and as you could imagine, it costs a kidney... Trying to see if a friend of mine could ship one bought of a auction on ebay to my address.

Will w8 for coupedummy to post the picture of his steering wheel.

Tx for the help guys!

Here's the pic of the leather steering wheel without controls.

I know he ships worldwide so if wanted I can give you his details.

Depending on what cover you have, I suppose you could. But why would you want to buy a leather steering wheel, then put a cover on it?
.

Hi Davren,

I believe I miss spoke when I said SW cover. I mean to say the front cover, with the FIAT logo and all, not a cover on the rim around the SW. I don't like that kind of stuff, no point on using one on a nice SW. =D

Hi Coupedummy,

It's exactly the same as the OEM one but with leather right? I don't know if it's what I'm looking for since I don't like the OEM steering wheel overall, the rim is to thin, dull overall, I believe I'll be going for something different... Perhaps a 500, if I get a hold of one...

Been looking in the ebay and other sites for one, came up with one from Italy, for 150 euros, plus 40 shipping to brazil but the market place it was didn't seemed trust worthy, did you guys ever heard of http://www.subito.it/ ???

There's some parts being sold in it that may interest you guys...
Never tried it though...

No problem, the other one above which is the stilo sport one maybe alittle different and aggresive as such. Theres a few on ebay uk.

The abarth wheel looks awesome tho
