Hi I have a problem with my gear box I've replaced a split pipe that was leaking transmission fluid and since then when I select gears (1St and reverse) it trys with 1St but stalls with reverse I was hoping there is a way to bleed the system as I suspect there is air in the system from the split pipe any help would be amazing

I think the procedure for this is done via diagnostics (although not 100% sure). Have you hooked it up to something like MultiECUScan and have a look?

The Stilo Selespeed ECU is available to use with freeware version of MultiECUScan so might be worth a try if you've got the correct diagnostic cable.

Thanks unfortunately I have no diagnostic equipment an I would imagine fiat would charge a fortune to do it for me I will have to start looking to see if there is anyone I can get to do it for me

Have you refilled the selespeed fluid? If there is not enough in there then it will not work.

Hey thanks I have refilled it but still stalls trying to get it into reverse

Thanks I have found a localg gearbox centre that will bleed the system former for £40 so I'm going to do that as I don't have the equipment to do it myself

Make sure they are familiar with Selespeed. The bonnet does not need to be opened to bleed. All done by computer.

If they talk about looking for bleed nipple leave quickly.

The Cable is a good investment and costs less than £20

Anyone know how to get the system to connect I'm using a eml327 odb2 cable but the multiecuscan won't connect

how are you trying to communicate,
if you are having issue through the menu's,

just do the engine with the ELM lead, to test basics

then use the correct coloured lead (from MES Supported vehicles list)

and do SCAN Vehicle - should find at least 5 devices;)

This is my first time using MES I'm plugging the Elm lead into the port by the drivers side fuse box then into my compute when I tried connecting first it said com1 didn't exist I installed the drivers and now it's saying no suitable interface found

did you install drivers with the cable..?( think they were required..??)

there is a complete "how-to" on the MES site..,
it involves techy stuff I'm not great with;
baud rate,
speeds of @38400 I seem to recall,

:idea:hang on I'll SEARCH for an older thread..,

all makes perfect sense now..,

Awesome thank you I'm a Web developer so tech doesn't bother me ?

So turns out you need the full version of the software to be able to bleed the transmission system or look at engine fault codes ?

You are so close now, I recommend you buy the licence. It's pretty much an essential tool if you have a selespeed (or any Stilo come to that) You won't regret it.

Yeah cheers mate going to buy the license tomorrow it's worth it for the fact you can reset service light that is a God send to me haha

So I drained the clutch today and it is now coming up with an error saying the pump relay is stuck any ideas as I'm baffled

so after a long and frustrating time spent trying to solve the problem I finally did it turned out was the accumulator so I can finally enjoy my abarth again
