Hi,

If anyone can help, I'd be grateful.

My normally reliable JTD suddenly won't turn off on the key and to stop it, I have to stall it.

My guess, is that the stop solenoid has died.

Can anyone help me with the location and where I can get one from asap please.

Cheese.

Does everthing else shut off on the key? If not it may be an electrical problem. Does it respond to the throttle when off? If it does, this again indicates an electrical issue. The 16 JTD does not have a fuel shut-off valve, it has a butterfly valve (like a throttle or choke on a petrol car) on the intake manifold that ensures fast shut down. I assune the 8V is the same. It is possible that this is sticking or has failed. First thing is to take the air hose off the mainfold and see if the butterfly moves OK and give it a clean. Item 8 below.

Mine did this after I'd just washed it. Make sure your under bonnet fuse box is dry. Once I'd dried mine out it stopped and started no problem.
I was concerned it was going to be a diesel run off!!

also there are quite a few jtd 16v running around with the antishudder butterfly removed and claim to have an almost identicle shutdown to with it on key off.
as well as electrical issue causing run on , be wary of maybe a dribling injector or as mentioned above a runaway situation where its running on oil thats bypassed on breather or turbo seals.
what rpm is it idling at when you stall it? if the normal 800rpm i would guess elec as above.
