My multiwagon dynamic JTD 120 has suffered from morning starting problems from the day I bought it last year, it's a 54 plate, 140.000 miles,
The engine turns over fine but takes an age to fire up, sometimes almost flattening the battery,( which I have replaced with a heavy duty model)
I tested the glow plugs and found one duff so replaced all with new ones, all ok for a few days then problems again , I have replaced the glow plug relay unit, with a known good used unit but the fault persists with an intermittent dash warning of ' Glow plug fault' coming up, all plugs are good so can't be them.
I'm running out of ideas so ask if anyone can shed any light on what else it could be. Any advice would be appreciated.

Diesels being reluctant to start can sometimes be down to fuel pressure. You can measure fuel pressure at the fuel rail... but I dunno what the pressure should be (and presumably it needs some equipment).

But.. try a manual check first.. does a lot of diesel flow out of the pipe to the fuel rail when you crank it?

Also.. does the problem get better (lessens) when the engine is hot, or does it do the same thing regardless of engine temperature?
