Some parts of the display on the automatic climate control panel on my Stilo Abarth have failed, making it difficult to read, although the system otherwise works perfectly. One question:

If I remove this panel and replace it with an identical one from another car, will it just work, or will I need to do anything else?

Never fitted one so don't know for sure, but as the control panel also contains the climate control ECU (which is a NODE on the CAN) it may need the Proxy Alignment procedure carrying out after fitting a replacement one.

Thanks Davren - that's helpful.

I'll swap the panels over and if it doesn't work then I guess I can get my local Fiat specialist to do the proxy alignment? Either way, I'll try to remember to post the outcome here (i.e. whether it works straight away or needs the proxy alignment), as it might help someone else one day...

A heads up, i changed mine plugged it in, and works, but when i check on MES it wants to do a PROXI, but always fails on the climate control.

so I do not know if something changed over the years, but all the button features have not changed, Davren do you have any more info on them with you knowledge of the Stilo.

EDIT-doing research before i changed mine, there is setting you can change by holding a number of buttons down, if this is any use to them just being a "plug and play" than needing a PROXI/Setup to work. got me thinking now......

So, if it works when connected, does it matter that the MES PROXI then fails? If everything functions correctly, and there are no warning lights on the dash...

correct i have not got any warnings etc, it just wont Proxi all the nodes back up, i have never had a problem since i changed apart from the proxi, let us know how you get on

If you fancy dismantling the original, then cleaning the zebra stripes and contacts on the lcd with isopropyl alcohol may fix it.

Removing climate control panel

I tried swapping climate control panels, but can't get the old one out.

By removing the radio, I can undo the two screws on the upper brackets of the control panel, and by pulling off the cover below it I can remove the lower screws that hold the panel - but there isn't room to pull it out of the dashboard.

Can someone who's done this please help me out...?
