HI my stilo blues so far - got car cheap with slipping clutch. Fixed that but left with very high pedal . Took for a good run 230 miles all good then heater played up just doing nothing right then head lights dipped beam fail having look at this soon, relay I think then engine management light came on and windows opened on own. getting a fault reader for this off ebay to see whats going on. I last worked full time on cars around 1985 they are a very different thing enjoyed so far but eletrical problems may stump me any help appreciated thanks :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Welcome to the home of electrical gremlins. If it makes you feel better my wife and I arrived home in her Abarth last week only to find the car had locked the doors on us and was refusing to let us out. I mean pressing the buttons on the drivers door or locking / unlocking with the key achieved nothing. It had dead locked us in!

Anyway, you might need to go on a process of elimination but always start by checking the battery; biggest culprit for issues with electrics on these things is a weak or failing battery. After that consider whether the battery connections are poor, corroded or loose. Can try giving them a clean up and see if that makes a difference.

After that start investigating your earths as it does sound like a leaky earth kind of gremlin to me.

Good luck.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. A quick check for poor earths is to connect a jump lead directly between the battery negative post and the engine block /gearbox. You may have disturbed a failing earth lead while doing the clutch. For fault code reading, look at Multiecuscan. www.multiecuscan.com It does much more than the simple code readers. you do need a laptop and an interface (~£20) but it's a great tool and essential if you have a diesel with DPF and do your own servicing.

Thanks just down loaded elearn so going on earth hunt but there's so many also going to get switch cleaner around fuse box near battery as its a mess thanks for replays . Got a friend with new battery so will also fit that for a weak n see .As for reader I have got a cheap on off eBay but if that don't work that site looks great Thanks again

Welcome to the forum or Stilo gremlin information goldmine as I've come to know it!
Davren has already eluded to the guides section, which is really helpful. I reckon that between Davren and Deckchair you probably have about 100 Haynes manuals worth of fiat knowledge so you're definitely in the right place!

Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress (y)

Hi and welcome, you wont get better advice and info than you will on here,
The advice about having a good/new battery is really important and also about the multiecu program, its invaluable...

Hi head lights all working relay ok unstable voltage on supply to it cleaned plugs and connections ,having a change and playing heater soon thanks agian without downloads and info this would be a knightmare

heater reset but still not working .it works ok for about 10 miins then a flap moves whatever the heater is set on and the left hand vents go hot even when on lo if left with ignition off for a hour or so works agian till flap moves agian whichh plastic cog controlls this is it this bosch thing on the side of the matrix doing it thanks

so far engine lights off was a o2 sensor aslo had a oil pressure warning hope this is not too low thers no big end noise but all this new sensor thing is overkill to me .no looking forward to emissions test thinking cat problem

Don't get too concerned regarding the oil pressure warning unless it's recurrent - but you do need to monitor regularly for it.

if you ever see the oil light flashing whilst driving you have an issue that requires immediate attention. Of course also keep an eye on your oil level.

The car can throw an oil pressure warning after a failed start, i.e. you let go of the key just a fraction too soon when trying to start, or if you stall you can also throw an oil pressure warning. I know I've done it a couple of times in my wife's Abarth.

Hi today I put new motors on the air flaps. The motors are working ok, turning from hot to cold. Both have the same movement yet near side is still blowing hot, I have an error code P0530 which I believe to be aircon pressure. Would a regas on aircon work?

Did you carry out the reset procedure after fitting the new motors?

I have an error code P0530 which I believe to be aircon pressure. Would a regas on aircon work?

P0530 = A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction.

It could be caused by insufficient gas in the system, or too much gas or pressure. Too much pressure would occur if the system is blocked somewhere. Insufficient gas is the most likely problem, but that could also indicate a leak.

It could also be that the switch is not working, or a problem with the connectors or wiring from the switch to the engine management ECU.
.

Yes reset after fitting motors going to get regased soon .Can hear a small click from compressor when switch is pressed but it does not seam to load engine at all . I Think the engine has been out or replaced as clips and wiring untidy and aircon not regased

went to regas today garage said they didn't want to regas as the compressor was not working but the compresssor surely not working because of low pressure confused Also heater still not working infact it getting worse. know it blows air all over the place and randomly changes lol

Today checked for leaks on air con and found split pipe so that should sort that one..I have taken all the motors off the heater and cleaned the pontimeters but wondering where to place the heater flaps on reassemble. Full one way or in the middle of their movement thanks

Stilo all good again thanks for all the help. It was the pontimeters for the heater and earth problems and battery causing lights and warning lights to fail and that common broken pipe on the air con!. Just the door stay to do tomorrow
