Hi all,

Having a bit of an issue removing the alternator on my 1.9 multijet. I have it unbolted from the bracket and it is currently split and sitting at the bottom of the engine bay behind the block. I have tried dropping the engine slightly to get it out and the only thing stopping it coming out is the bracket that the alternator bolts to. There were 3 bolts I could see and I removed them but the bracket wont budge. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mick

Undo lower engine mounts on sub frame move engine forward .

Yep. I've changed alternator 3 times (on 8v Stilo JTD's) and it's easy. Remove dipstick assembly, remove front exhaust flexi-pipe, undo lower engine mounts on sub frame. Then (still underneath) lever the engine forward with a jack handle or hammer shaft, and it gives you that tiny bit of room to jiggle the alty out at the bottom.
