I have a black stilo 1.4 2004, all my dash clock gauges digital display went off nothing at all apart from left indicator light and high beam light permanently on, the only light the worked ok was the flashing light when you first start the car. I didnt use the car for a few days and battery went flat, took it of to charge overnight once back on the car every light was lit up on the dash permanent, any way i had tightened one of the terminal leads properly as the car wouldnt start once i took the lead off and reconnected it, all those lights went off and for the first time the digital display came on but with only partial letters and numbers which you cant make out what they say this is now on permanent, still have no working gauges. would you say i need new clusters or could this be another problem, im a female driver and have no idea what to do with the car or where to find anything related to this sort of thing any help please.
thanks Bev

I would remove the fuses #37 and #53 .

They live in the compartment by your right knee.

#37 is the third (?) one from the left (top row) and #53 is the third one from the left in row 5 or 6 from the top. Handily the fuse positions are shown on the inside of the lid (shown the right way up as you look at it).

The fuses should be 10A (red) by the way.. but leave the beast to calm down a bit (e.g. over night) and then refit the fuses. It ought to then work out that it's brains are plugged in properly and settle down.

I'd think about swapping the battery if "a few days" without use made it go flat. Normally a battery should handle a couple of weeks without a charge. A low voltage will make your console go a bit funny.. so it could still be affecting it now, even though you've charged it up.

Thank you for your response and for such a good explanation of where to find the fuses, i will get a new battery as soon as possible, i will let you know how i gt on hopefully this will sort out the problem and i wont run out of fuel again lol, i have now got a petrol can in my car just incase though!
Thanks again

Batter should last longer than a few days so i would replace that as its on the way out unless you left something on. Go out to the car when its dark but dont open the doors or press unlock on the key. Just look at the clocks especially the LCD screen in the middle. Can you see a faint back light on? I had the problem of a back lights staying on and it was a sign of the clocks failing. £120 later they were fixed and a new battery as the Stilo seems to hats weak batterys.

BTW forum member yellowstilo may be able to fix the clocks if that is the problem.

Thank you at the time the battery when flat the indicator light and high beam was on constant even without the engine on i normally use the car every day but at that point i hadnt been in it for 2 days so assumed it was that those lights were on constant, ive taken out the fuses as suggested by Rolf.S so once i put them back il take a look in the dark and see, think battery could be an issue as suggested by yourself and rolf so wil get another as soon as i can and see how that works, i am hoping by taking out the fuses as was suggested that this may help resolve the problem but cant do any harm either way to change the battery as i have no idea how old it is thank you for your reply
