Did you fit stiffer springs with the new shocks? On mine, I'm using the same original springs and the ride is not that much firmer. The amount of body role is the same. The previous shocks were very soft and the car bounced all over the place as damping action was non existent.

I swapped them for aftermarket springs supposedly made for the 1.2 as oem replacements but they feel far too harsh. They are definitely coming off tomorrow morning, can't stand the knocking anymore!

Shame cos the steering feels much more solid with the new top mounts and they look so good lol. Could always put the new mounts on the old shocks but can't be bothered faffing about with the spring compressors again!

Pulled the struts out and everything looked correctly aligned on the shock top mounts. I replaced the shock mounts and the strut top bearings. It has improved things but the suspension is still noisy. Methinks these yellow struts are very unsuited to my car....

I had a terrible squeak from the suspension for over 2 years, especially when going over speed bumps.
I have replaced almost all the suspension components (shocks, bushings, all joint, drop links, top mounts, rubber rings etc) but the noise was still there.
I have eventually figured out that the fault was with the "end of travel bump stop" (search for KYB 910013 to see the part ).
The rubber part had some dust and some vaseline/oil on the inside and i would squeak when going up and down on the shock rod.

I replaced that with the KYB part and i have finally got a squeak free car....at least until something else decides to squeak/knock.

Ok, in desperation I fitted a standard set of shocks using my mounts, springs and dust covers. The whole thing is now whisper quiet. One things I noticed was that one of my drop links had a slight bend in it. Perhaps altered (shortened?) drop links need to be fitted with these shocks? I contacted the suppliers of these shocks before buying them and asked them if they could be used with standard springs and was told that they could be. So normal springs should be a runner and no mention of any other mods like drop links.

It's a shame as the front end is way more responsive when cornering. But the clonking and general racket is utterly horrendous. Clearly these shocks used with standard springs are not at all suitable as a normal road shock.
