First off sorry if this has been posted before but I just could not for the life of me find it I have seen something about this but really could not find it again.
Ok so I have a fiat stilo 1.4 active and I have to say I've owned puntos before but this stilo I LOVE lol. So onto my problem every time I try get a but of power out of my stilo I mean put my foot down or just put the throttle more than a quater of the way down I get "asr failure" "loose connection" I'm stuck, I've had a mechanic look at it and nothing is coming up on the fault reader I've heard about the d10 connector but have no idea where that is, if someone could help with this that would be great I'm fixing a broken coil spring on Monday so I am going to look at it all then. :bang:

Not sure on the 1.4 but the d10 is under the power fuse box under the bonnet, clips in right under it if you lift it up it rotates and the d10 ud right under it ..

Thank you will have a look at that Monday I heard they can get damp and cause these problems

Also, check your battery.
I have 1.2 active and have had the same problems - few months later my battery died totally.

Fitted a new battery and ot no longer happens, you may think your battery is good, it may even read ok on a tester but read different when under load and the car needs aload of battery power...

Try that too.

Thank you just out of curiosity what vault battery do you have

Not sure what you mean...
Thought the rating was some the same even for heavy duty batterys (they usually just have bigger cells and take more load)

I didnt fit a brand new battery either, my cousin gave me one that had been on his garage floor for the best part of a year, it was from his ford probe v6 that he was breaking, branded Monroe (i think) and is slightly larger than the one i had in before.

On fairness, my old read fine on the multimeter, it was the cells that had gone so it can miss lead your readings, best thing to do is just try another, have you got another motor you can borrow one from to try it out? Saves wasting money...

I don't have another battery that's the problem and on the batteries they have numbers mines 48 or something like that its one I had on my old car but was only about 1-2 years old when I put it in my stilo when I got it as it came with the asr fault didn't notice when I bought it

probably too small for the electrical load..

LOADS of sensors on modern cars..
if they don't see the Voltage they've expected - you get a warning on the dash.. sound familiar..;)

Thanks for directing me but I don't want to simply turn it off as in that post i would like to find a solution so we all can come back to and think right that's what I need to do sorry if I sound arrogant or being funny just noticed everywhere on the net is saying to do one thing and another saying do another, my next question is this fault only happens while I'm driving during start up I get every fault there is but they go back out I think that is the battery but would it affect me while I'm driving dosent the alternator take over or keep the battery running at 100%

Alternator will not take over the car. It will keep the battery charged but if the battery is old or dying it may not be holding charge so replace. I have the 1.2 active and when i had ASR and a few other warning on start up it was early signs of my clocks on the way out. I sent them away to Dash-Tec

Who fixed them for £120 with a lifetime guarantee. I also bought a higher amp battery. If the book says your battery should be 65amp get a 90. After that was all sorted out i love my car again.

How i also noticed when my clicks were on the way out was, Park the car in as dark an area as possible. Lock the car and give it time to settle down. Look at the LCD between the speedo and rev counter. My back light was on all night. That was the start of my problems.

Reading to what you put Infinite look at the cheapest aspects first. Ive had the dash go berserk (lost power in fuel gauge speedo etc) turned out to be 2 damaged coils replaced and all was fine. Then had dash flickering and asr failure when acceleration which ended up not having a broken set of clocks but down to 4 worn out plugs replaced and no problems since. My advice remove the plugs first to check there condition if weak spark can cause the car to loose dash power even tho on idle all works fine but under load the spark needs to be strong if there weak then the car wont work as it should electrically. Hope this helps.

Thank you I just had one of the coils replaced spark plugs are my next investment regardless so will give that a try I'm going to have a look at all the connections today and try a battery of a diesel Volvo v40 so hope that helps I will post back and update everyone

I must say I was sceptical about the coil causing the asr failure warnings but I had a cylinder 4 misfire code and replaced the coil on the wifes car and all the asr warnings are gone. Used to happen almost every start.

As I have had coils break and worn out plugs ive hope what has been put from me has helped others with simular if not the same symtoms to cure there problems

So Ive changed the battery but still have this problem I get the asr failure while driving during start up its fine now I am going to replace the plugs soon I'm thinking of putting Bosch ones in there as I trust that brand haha if not that then I'm going to have a look at the clocks and then last thing is ECU I'm moving it off the top of the engine anyway stupid idea to put it there anyway haha

sorry for the delay in replying battery has not helped ive nearly doubled the strength from a deisel volvo but no luck also should mention the new battery is only a few months old
