Yes he means can you change gear without using the clutch so basically without use of the the clutch does it work up the gears if so its not been fitted corect
Sorry, i should of explained a bit more.
a few years back, i owneded an Astra with hydraulic clutch like my Stilo, well my Clutch release bearing had worn to a point that it jammed the clutch "on"...
I was unable to use the pedal to put the car in neutral or disengage the gearbox...
So, i put the car in 1st gear, took off the handbrake and let it jolt a little till it stopped... then started the engine with my foot on the accelerator a bit and it juggered forward and started and then drove in first gear, i had to let the engine do the braking until i was going slow enough to slip it out of 1st, into neutral and then gently fether the throttle whilst sliding it into 2nd without using the clutch peddal...
Try that, stick her in first gear, take of handbrake and crank the engine and see if she moves... be ready to cut the engine or drive in 1st if not....
Also, when i picked up my astra after having a new clutch kit fitted, it wouldn't budge - it was jammed into gear as the idiot had not fitted the reverse pin correctly - check that too, its a 5 min fix, jack up the car - find the pin, give it a knock in neutral and then it should be ok, but saying that - this was on my astra, not a fiat stilo so dunno anything about reverse pins on the fiats (as of yet).
