Guys where can i get a replacement alternator belt for my 2.4 abarth? Halfords haven't a clue, and my local independent car spares shop have sold me something that looks over a metre long??? Surely this isn't correct?

Ok so i have tried the above website, the belt says for non air conditioning??? And no mention of stretch??? Just says aftermarket

Any body? Hate having the car sat still in the car park :(

Have emailed my local fiat specialist garage, but probably won't hear from them until Monday

looking here 2 to go at are 4pk663 or 4pk668(thread says dealer part only, but I see both on ebay)

this ebay item cross links to the eper number as 4pk668 but id check a few more to be sure.

hopefully a local parts supplier will have one or both in

And will it be a stretch belt, that the other member suggested I should only use?

To make sure you get the correct belt , go to a fiat parts dept. The belt you need is part number 46758804 Stretch belt.

Is somebody trying to have a laugh? Local fiat specialist 6hrs work to change the alternator belt £400, Surely this is crazy? Said on another car had to take all front end off?

£400 to replace alternator belt??????????

OK so the local fiat specialist came back at a price of £400 to replace just the alternator belt, this includes parts and 6hrs to do the work, said might have to remove front end, surely they are trying to take me to the cleaners?

Re: £400 to replace alternator belt??????????

Blimey the belt costs 12 quid i had a new alternator and belt fitted for 160

Lol 2.4 20v so got auxiliary belt then alternator belt... And local fiat sales garage quoted my dad £40 for belt and an hour's work £80 does that seem more realistic lol

Out of you for asking in the OP? Yes (y)

Seriously though. DIY, its not that hard or take it to a back street garage. What engine is it?

OK so cars getting towed to the local motosave garage tomorrow, quoted £90 for both alternator and auxiliary belt changing, said do the auxiliary as needs to be removed for alternator belt.

Do you think they will run into any issues, surely a well known independent garage can fix this for me?

Lack of working space on the 5 cylinder engine can be a problem, but a garage should be able to overcome that.

Only other problem (as with all stretch belts) is getting it over the pulley without damaging the belt ribs. Original Fiat stretch belts used to be supplied with a metal or plastic guide, but I don't think they include one now.
