After changing the thermostat and oil on the Stilo, I am near to the finish line however there is a very annoying squeaking/grinding noise coming from the pulley side of the engine.

Im guessing that its an idler with a knackered bearing.

Am going to change it but, while the covers are off, figure I might do the timing belt aswell.

Are there ANY decent guides anywhere for doing this engine?
Bearing in mind I don't have the expensive cam locking tools (£150) is this a viable home repair job?

Any help appreciated please.

Also, does anybody have a decent picture of the engine with the timing covers removed?
I think the squeeling/grinding noise is coming from the front of the engine.
Is this the water pump location? Its definately not the alternator.

Thank you so much. Dont know how the hell I missed that.
Those cam lock tools can be had for about £45 on ebay. Dont suppose anybody on here has a set and rents them out?
