Hi guys

every time i start my car even the 1st start of the day my temperature gauge goes straight in to the RED (Red Light To) warning beeps to then drops back in to where it should be,

I have run ECU scan but its not picking anything up. I have also disconnected the battery and reconnected but the issue still remains ;( please look at my previous post in regards to that I have upgraded my cluster to an abarth one and have proxy aligned everything, and everything is working as it should apart from the temp issue :(
do anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
thanks for taking the time to read this and hope to get this resolved with your help.

Kind Regards
Dom.....

You can start by checking (or replacing, it is not expensive) the water temp sensor. It's a small green one and it is located on the thermostat.
I had the same problem a few years ago that turned out to be a faulty ECU...The 1.6 is an electrical nightmare...

Hey, I've got the same thing happening on mine. Only started when I changed the cluster. Not a major issue for me, as long as the "Check OK" message is shown, I don't pay attention to it. As said above, it's likely to be more of a software upgrade at the stealers rather than anything major to worry about (I've had my cluster in for over a year and a half)

hi Fiat friends,

Sorry i haven't said thanks until now, i have been a little under the weather since i have started this post so i haven't done anything to my car to try and rectify the issue that I Am Having, I Have taken the car out today to get a spot of shopping and still having the issue ;(
@ Most Easterly Pandas the scan software on my pc is the latest its annoying because we know the temp is fine, but because i am getting this happening i don't get to see the check ok message! onas5 :(
Is there anyone out there able to guide me in to removing this false error?
any help will be gr8
Kind Regards

Have you seen the low speed fan resistor post on here. I have the same problem and it looks most likely.

Temperature Gauge Nightmare

Ok guys I am having this issue still. when I turn the car on 9/10 the temp gauge goes to the highest point with the red light & then drops to the correct temp. When I asked on here before I was told it could be the temp sensor so I left it for for a while till I had the time to get one and put it in. So I done that today and the issue remains. There is no other issue stored on the ECU with the fiat scan, I have done cluster reset too (proxy alignment). the battery is about 2 years old. but when this problem started the battery was prob just over a year old, Its very annoying every time I start the car its BEEP BEEP BEEP only getting cheek OK every now and then, i just cant find the fault! can anyone help with this please??
My dash has that the LCD color screen on it not the little screen
I hope someone here can help me with this!?!?

Kind Regards

This isn't that common on the Stilo, but was on the GP at one point, and I believe a software update at the dealership was the cure in that case.

ECU Software Update

Hi guys, i think i need to update the software on my ecu as i keep getting random overheat when i start the can but then drop down str8 away.

i have a stilo 1.6 16v 2002.

i also have the fiat scan software, how do i get the ECU software and how to upload it to my car?

any help you guys can provide will be gr8, thanks,

Kind Regards

Re: ECU Software Update

I've never heard of a sofware update for the temperature gauge on the Stilo.

There was a recall for the electronic engine fan speed control unit, but that was only fitted to the 1.8, 2.4 and some 1.9 JTD engines.

If there is an update, you can't apply it with MES, only a dealer can do it,
.
