Hi, posted earlier about engine issues on my Stilo, thanks to the guy who replied btw. Have bought a new maf sensor which I'm hoping will solve that problem. Just looking for some opinions and ideas on price to be honest. I've got a 2005 1.9 sporting which I bought for £1150, and after spending £800 on various repairs including new cambelt kit and water pump, egr valve, fan belt, rear discs and pads, water, fuel, oil and pollen filters, oil change, a reverse light switch, a new o/s drive shaft and a fresh mot! The clutch has decided to give up 2 weeks later! My mechanic advised me that the parts are around £500 and it's listed at around 7hrs labour as the engine has to come out, so I'm really just wondering a: is that accurate, and b: is it worth throwing that much more money at the girl considering everything else is (hopefully) sorted? Or is there a market for it to someone in the know to fit a new clutch and have themselves a well sorted car? Anyway, sorry to be so long winded, and thanks in advance!

£500 is way too high for parts. I think a Valeo clutch for a 1.4 Stilo is around £60. Do a search for Stilo clutch on Google and you will get a good idea of the proper price.

Fiat workshop manuals always say the engine needs to come out to replace a clutch, however for the 1.9 engine, the gearbox will come out with the engine in place. Your mechanic will need to remove the left front suspension and driveshaft, the battery, battery box and fuse box. The right driveshaft stays in place attached to the engine.

£500 for parts is about right including a new DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel). Whilst the gearbox is out, I would recommend replacing the rear engine oil seal and driveshaft oil seals.
.

Thanks, I had a good look myself, the clutch and flywheel are around £425, just waiting for my mechanic to tell me how much he's likely to charge me in labour now so I've at least got a figure to ponder on.
