Last night I was driving home in the rain, came round a corner too quick and my Stilo oversteered and slammed into the curb.
I've snapped the lower arm in half and disintegrated my drive shaft. The AA also bent the wing trying to get it on the low loader as they had to use sliding shims.

As much as it pains me I'm going to have it scrapped today. I can't afford the fix at the moment due to financial problems. If I went through my insurance they'll write it off. If they give me £800 they'll take my £250 excess out of it and also the remaining months of my policy payments. I'll end up with about £170, lose my no claims and my insurance will go up £25 a month.

Going to have to go and buy a cheap banger but it's the end of my Stilo ownership. I'm gutted as I know it's my own stupid fault.

Would u not get more money sticking it on eBay and selling parts off it ???

Sorry guys I scrapped it for £90. I don't have parking to be able to sell it for parts as I have to park on the street. It's such a shame, especially as everything worked on it including the factory sub.

My Mom's given me the money to buy a cheap replacement.
I've just picked up a T-Reg 206 with 12 months MOT and only 46k miles from new. I keep going to engage non existent cruise control lol.

God I'm going to miss my Stilo. The 206 doesn't even have ABS

Sorry to hear this story. When you get your next Fiat , which you will do before too long, make sure you list your location on your profile in this forum . That way you will find some supporters locally I'm sure.
Now the stilo has gone , tell us where it is as there are lots of good parts on it which could find good homes with forum members here.
regards

The scrap yard who collected it are called SCRAP-IT-TODAY and they're in Strawberry Lane, Wolverhampton. I don't know if they're breakers or just a general scrap yard.
Everything on the Stilo worked including the upgraded stereo, upgraded and extra speakers and the sub woofer in the boot.

I was offered between £40(!) up to £95 in scrap and that included collection.

My 206 feels so slow in comparison to the Multijet! One great thing about the Peugeot is that I can go over speed bumps that had my Stilo not just scraping but clanging!

850KD - my first car was a 1986 Panda and I've owned 3 of those in total, 3 Stilos, a Panda mk2 and even a crappy Cinquecento. I'll definitely be back!!! Thinking of ditching the Stilos and getting a Bravo or Croma next, they're scandalously cheap at the moment

£90, ouch! :(

Looked tidy as well, the one thing I will say when shopping about for insurance in future is that cheapest isn't normally best, when they start adding clauses about you having to pay for the whole insurance term if you make a claim etc.

A lot of the better / quality insurers don't do this, I know that mine don't, and you can be only days into a policy and claim and then cancel and get a prorata refund if needs be.

The Cinquecento is the worst Fiat I've ever driven or owned. You went round a corner and it felt like you were cornering on your door handles! Possibly the worst body roll I've ever experienced in a car!
I very nearly bought a Seicento yesterday, only £300 with a bit of MOT. Then I came to my senses lol. The 0.9ltr is about £10 cheaper a month than the Peugeot and would have been better on fuel. However it had an airbag and doors and pretty much nothing else. Oh, apart from the record of being the third most dangerous car ever tested by EURO NCAP!

I'm actually insured with AXA and have been for a couple of years. Have always been impressed with them until I read the clause meaning I'd have to pay the remaining policy!
Luckily I've managed to change the excess to only £100 and it's still £10 cheaper a month than the Stilo. Fuel economy won't be anywhere near as good though and boy do I miss having a turbo!

Hi there im so sorry to hear your story :( i know where strawberry lane is and im not far from there ill have to pop over there to see if there's any bits i need so you know some parts are going to a good home

Pete...

It was a lovely car but also a ticking time bomb lol. The turbo was making chirping sounds and when the coolant system broke it pissed all over the cambelt. Both could have gone at any point and written off the car!

The 206 is actually doing better on fuel than I anticipated. Only problem is it's intermittently misfiring and has stalled for no reason three times. Automatically thought of the coil pack until I read it's a world wide epidemic that was featured on BBC Watchdog! Apparently some people change spark plugs and it goes away others spend £500 on a new ECU and it still persists.
Just going to have to be one of those things I put up with. At least if this car goes bang it only owes me £300.
The Stilo and all its repairs and servicing still owes me £1600 on my credit card :bang:

Wow that's a lot is that with the price of the car including spares.. My stilo has turned out to be a bit of a project the engine body and mechanics have been great but there was quite a lot of small issues that needed sorting when i had it, the latest being about the door stays. Just search all my posts on the forum and they are all about the car i have now as this is my first ever fiat but now im slowly getting through them all they mainly have been electrical problems some i did,nt write about because all the information i needed was within the forum but my car and this forum which has been a big help has taught me quite a lot about stilo,s

Its a great car it will be even better when ive finished it im not into mods or anything like that its just that its had one bad owner who just let things go now i have the job of putting them right but im getting there im going go over and have a look at your old stilo if its still there to see if there's anything i could do with off it you never know as im still looking for some bits for mine :)

Pete.....
