thank you tryed the 815 belt its to tight wont go round the tensioner

Hi, the original belt code for the non air-con version is: 71746480 (L=815)

You can remove the idle pulley and the automatic tensioner if you want, the shorter belt doesn't need them.

I had the same problem and used the short belt as a temporary solution since you can't set the right tension by moving the alternator (in the aircon version the alternator is on a fixed mount) so after some time it will evetually start to slip during cold starts.

Using an 815mm belt for a Stilo without A/c assumes that the pulleys on the A/c and non A/c engines are the same diameter. The crankshaft pulley is the same diameter, but the pulley for the lower output non A/c alternator may not be. ;)

Many manufacturers now use "Stretch Fit" belts for applications without tensioners. The advertised length of a SF belt will be slightly smaller than the equivalent non SF belt to enable it to be stretched over the pulleys.

True, in fact before changing mine I checked at my local Fiat garage and found that the JTD 80/115 alternators on the Stilo share the same pulley.

I think in my case the main problem was the Fiat belt not enough "stretchy" after some time, but it still works as a temporary solution. :)

You can mesure the route of the belt with string that will give you some sort of Idea of the length of belt you need. You can then check online or motor factor for belt.
