Hi guys, I got my battery in the car not sure how old she is, but been getting engine faults, looking at the battery closely i am not sure if its had it, 12.5v while attached engine off but 14.4v while engine is running, it tells me alternator has to be working one of the engine faults is alternator failure not logging on ecu, battery make is super start, engine takes about 5 seconds to start from turning the key, wondering if this battery is on end life.

Engine faults only occur when emgine is at optimal running temps

Hoping the pic i have attached has worked

All advice greatly accepted

Many thanks in advance

I'm getting 12.4 and various faults on a abrath, I did think battery and drove it quick fit, they said 60%, when I checked the cranking amps it fails to 9.90 ish I'm sure this should be over a thousand? Anyway into went fiat for a service and they checked battery and said it's fine, so I get odd faults still so cleaned all the fuse box and replaced fuses. Many had snapped legs when I pulled them out. After cleaning everything still the same faults :)

Recessed terminal type like this.

The biggest that will fit the tray.

A non recessed terminal battery will sit too high. A friend took his VW Passat to a garage that fitted a std battery, closed the bonnet and promptly burnt 2 holes in it where the terminals shorted on it.

This won't happen with Stilo but my car had wrong battery fitted so the battery clamp wouldn't fit so had been left off.
