Hi guys, long story short, can belt went heads salvageable but looking at prices it seems viable just to drop another lump in now it's all apart, so basically I'm looking at options for replacing the engine and if it's as easy as dragging (the now bottom end) out and dropping the new engine in? Not sure if the Ecu or keys would need to be synced. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers chaps

No I want to keep it a 1.6 for insurance purposes and the rest of the cars in fair condition, I've restored it over the past 2 years and only been driving it about 4 months so really gutted the cam belt snapped soo soon, but if I can shave 80k off the engine with the same amount to repair the cam belt and head, seems to make more sense.

Also is the any possibility that I could change the odometer to the new reading, I vaguely remember seeing a video on YouTube in which it was changed using a OBD device.

You can adjust the mileage up, but not down, with MultiECUscan. To adjust it down would be illegal unless you were just replacing the speedometer with with a higher mileage one. The new engine may have only done 80k, but the rest of the car hasn't. ;)

The mileage drop would show up on future MOTs.
