Hi guys,

I am new here! I own a 3-door 1.4 Stilo. I have a problem with the board computer. It shows wrong instant and average consumption. It increases with the speed up to 16 litres/100 km while driving 110 km/h o the 6th gear and doing really something like 6.5 litres/km. Everything else is working well(Range to empty,...). Throttle body cleaned, diagnostics without results, new airbox, air filter, thermostat, spark plugs, oil, etc...

Any ideas?

Thanks :worship:

I don't find it very accurate anyway. The max in 25l per 100km and if I am coasting in first gear ie clutch in, it still shows that. I would not worry about it, average is better to read but then again once the fuel level get lows it throws the km to empty out.

(EDIT) Actually this might be a good conversation post. I don't trust the readings one bit.

Stealth123 - the thing is that, when I do 20 km/h on the 1st gear the consumption is arround 5litres/100 km. So it increases with the velocity. The average consumption is as well wrong because the instant one is wrong all the time.
jatkinson - I've got 195/65 R15 tires
portland_bill - I will try, but I bought the car 3 weeks ago and before that it had the battery removed for more than just a couple of days.

Hi guys,

I tried to restart the BC, but did not make any difference.

Any ideas anyone?

Do you know how to instant consumption is measure? Is it a pressure sensor or does it run through ECU and injection or?

Thanks

Instant consumption is a calculation by the ECU based on what it thinks it is injecting. It knows the time the injector is open, and the size of the hole. They are often a bit optimistic, showing a few mpg better than actual (or in your case a lower l/100km figure than actual), but not a long way out.

If a full reset to zero, on all readings does not sort it, it would probably be best ignored as a proper fix will probably involve expensive ECU replacement.
