Hi,

( Just lose my virginity for FiatForum )

I have annoying "whistle" sound coming from heater fan.
The sound increase when fan speed is increased ( most sound comes from center vents. )
It sounds like dry bearing on fan motor, but can those bearings be WD40'd or any other idea how to fix this. The sound is not very loud but after driving 30min or so it starts to...well...blow Your ears..

Any ideas to fix this ?

Heater fan stopped working. What to do??!

Hi,

Yesterday my -04 MW decided to stop blowing warm air. The heater fan motor just died. Fan motor is dead no matter switching through positions 0-4. Si I don't think this is matter of resistor fault. If I undestood right the motor should run on position 4 if the resistor is dead. I checked the fuses and they are OK.I noticed that when I push the fan motor switch down hard the motor start to run. So I opened the switch and cleaned the copper contactors and I was sure that I found the problem because the contact surfaces were dirty. But after the cleaning and checking the switch to be OK the problem still exists. Now the motor won't start even pushing down the switch as it worked before. I also opened the switch again and checked the contact surfaces with multimeter and it seems to feed ~6,5V to the switch. So, power comes to the switch but motor is still dead.:( Any idea what to check next?

If the fan motor was whistling before, it could have died completely now. Disconnect the motor and supply it directly with 12 volts to test it. Do not supply it via the resistor.

It's weird that motor worked while pushing the switch down...so I think the motor is OK but there is some contact failure somewhere.
I found out from this forum that it might be some kind of grounding problem but can't found out how to find or fix this.:(
