as you guys know i dont own a JTD... im asking for my BFF :D (no homo)

hes got an 06 Vectra 1.9 CDTi running around 133,000mi, im certain its the same lump as the JTDs with a slightly different fuel map on it.

anyway i digress, its developed a misfire throughout the rev range started off as a slight miss and got worse over the next 5-10miles. currently unable to get codes as his OBD kit is playing up. doesnt seem to be EGR or Boost pressure sensor related as they only happens at higher revs. he says theres no abnormal smoke. (ill get codes as soon as i can)

my initial thought is MAF although i dont know why it has a misfire or its developed from slight to severe. in my experience injectors cause misfires but dont 'get worse'.

any one experienced similar on a JTD? if so what did you find, if not... thoughts please.

don't think its the MAF as that just feels like the turbo has been taken off, ie runs smooth but has no power, to check it just disconnect it and it should run on a basic map but at full power.

to me it sounds like a failing injector but I have no personal experience with that.

i thought mine had a misfire ... but it was just my Egr blanking plate had burned though , and the egr was making it missbehave

Edit ,, its a vauxhall , tell him to scrap it :p

Haha homemade blanking plate? ;)

i dont believe for a second its EGR. im waiting for wifey to give me permission to go see him with my diag kit. then ill have codes and we'll be sorted... my money is on cyl 3 inj. seems to be a reoccuring theme both in VX forums and sussexas post and the only one that makes any sense.

it almost sounds like fubarred DMF rattle when running but theres no way that would throw it into limp home mode.

Had a look at this today... was a little rough on idle. It was intermittent though which kinda led me to electrical... threw the diag on it and she was showing P0203. Inj 3 circuit.

Dealer do an injector wiring and multiplug repair kit for under £20. All fitted and road tested. Its all good now

thanks sussexa good knowledge and advice.

its the SRi so 16v 150?

ill be honest i got him to run it... it ran like a skeleton having a w**k in a biscuit tin. then, all of a sudden, it cleared up and idled normally, then just as quickly went crappy again. that, to me, screams electrics.

after finding P0203 with the help of Torque we whipped the engine cover off it and unplugged Inj.3 the plug was covered with a dark red dust. and peering down the pins you could see one was heavily corroded. gave it a quick squirt of WD40 and plugged it back in and all was good untill we took it up the road when it started missing again.

a quick phone call and a visit to VX later we had the repair kit. i crimped it in and heat sealed the crimps with that adhesive filled heat shrink stuff. fabric taped it up and hopefully the ol girl is sorted for the forseable future (y)
