Technical Car won't start :(

You talking about the guy fixing his ecu? I thought he said he was Greek when he first came on the forum to show us this film.

South Africa has a large Greek community. It is possible he grew up in SA. Do your know his forum name?

Have you any Bulbs that have blown. I was getting this continually the other week :-(..., and I was getting an interment stop light blown blub. It seems the Earth on the back light was gone. I rewired the light and No more errors until the other day when unknown to me the front headlight blub had blown (no error on the dashboard), and the error returned. This p****D me of as the car was about to go in for its NCT ( Mot in Ireland ).
Just a thought.

Sorry to see the car is not working.

Greetings!

11.8v for battery power is too low.
Minimum is really 12v and should be no less than 12.3v

Now that you charged it how much voltage are you reading from it?

Cheers

Ok so.... The story so far....

I have had the battery out and given it an overnight charge. Multimeter reads 12.34v when connected to the battery terminals.

I have earthed the engine, ecu and gearbox in accordance to deckchair and nickos' guides.

I'm not getting any engine errors in FES. But when I run the RPM actuator test in FES I get the engine fault, altrnter fail, message but again no stored codes.

When I connect the steering to FES I get pwr steering, asr, ebd fail come up on the dash but no error messages stored in the memory.

I don't have the full version of FES so I can only see the CAN info, there is nothing in there that looks incorrect as far as I can tell.

I do have the airbag light on but there's nothing new about that, it's always bloody on!

The car judders but will simply not fire up, there's not been any difference in the sound or motion when trying to start. Is the likely to be alternator related now?

The car has not been jumped or bumped started as long as I've had it. I suppose drop voltage testing is the next thing but this is all new to me so I may have to bite the bullet and get someone out to solve it.

Thanks for all your advice and tips guys, really appreciate the help.

What type of charger did you use ? was it a trickle charger or one that put out an amp or two as 12.3v seems quite low for a battery that has been on charge all night..

Did you take the 12.3v reading before trying to turn the engine over to start the car or was that the read after .

Could be battery is not holding a good amperage is the engine turning over well when you try to start it, most battery supplies can load test a battery if yours is no longer holding a good state of charge , as said 12.3 seems low for a battery that has been on charge overnight

BRUNO LIVES......!

After much frustration. I went back to the beginning and retraced my steps.

Put the battery back on for a longer charge.

Checked for any parasitic drains.

Checked the cca of the battery.

Had the plugs out in case of flooding.

Then tonight used a little bit of easy start and vroom!

I'll be going back out tomorrow to check it wasn't a figment of my imagination and to read some diag output.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and support through these dark days!

The sun might just start shining on my old 1.6!

Fingers crossed.

Jay
