Hello everybody,
i need help to get solution of problem i am having,i change timing belt and water pump on my stilo 1.9 diesel multijet 2006. worked good for about five minutes and then start making noise, i took cover off again:mad: to check if timing belt tension is lose but it is good enough. please give any suggestion which might help to solve problem. Many Thanks

it is tight enough not lose but today after driving an hour noise is not there any more. lets see if its come back. but changing timing belt on stilo is not an easy job especially getting to water pump which is behind pulley. Next goal is changing glow plug if any body can give advice before changing. Many thanks

I've done two on Stilo jtd - not difficult, just fiddly.

Get the special socket - 9mm long-reach. Make sure you have a few flexible/universal joints. Long forcep pliers or a bent piece of strong wire to pop the electrical connector off.

Warm engine, but not too hot to work on. Give it a good squirt of plusgas early, so it has time to soak in. Remove any ancillary bits which block access. Then firm, smooth pressure to bring it out. if it won't move, more plusgas and try again in a day or two. You don't want to strip the alloy thread. If it feels stiff, more plusgas and wind it backwards and forwards so that the glowplug comes out gradually.

Then shove a new one in, and find a way to put the damned connector back on (easy with 300mm forcep pliers).

I don't know if it is any helpful, but last time my mechanic changed timing belt in my 1.2 (petrol) stilo (me too like yours the timing belt was making noises and i had it on my car for 3 months), he told me that my previous mechanic had put the timing belt in reverse direction (as it was supposed to be) I don't know in jtd how is the timing belt is but check it, just to be sure.
