GPZ750 and richydraper thank you for the advise, I have given it some thought but there are a few things stopping me. I am so limited with time and money at the moment. I cant really do it at college as the course we are doing is all about diagnosis, although I could ask I guess. I have bought second hand parts (gearbox) from ebay before and it was no good. How can I gaurentee I find a good one? So say I did get a second hand one, and put it in my car and it was no good? How much more time and money do you really think I should throw at it? Or perhaps I could do it as a project, if I can find the cash and time.

that depends how much you want it... you see how much another car will cost (to buy, to run, etc etc) and how much time and effort you have to put in to repairing the stilo.

i have just spent a shade over a grand on mine this year, ive had her 4 years and just kept on top of the servicing, not done any major work to her... until now.

The thing is... she is a known entity, the engines good, the gearbox is good so i know she wont let me down. Id like a JTD but to get one spec'd the way i want, iron out all the problems i know are JTD weaknesses and to do all the suspension work i just have to my 1.6 i rekon id be in the hole for upwards of £2500.
